Rock Band or Guitar Hero?

Which one is better?

I finally sucumbed to DH's request to get a LED TV...now he says he needs a PS3 for its blue ray capabilities and since we'll have the PS3, we should get Rock Band/Guitar Hero

He asks for very little so I agreed to the TV even tho neither of us watch very much. After the TV he said he "needs" new cables, tuner, PS3, 7.1 sound speakers Oh well, he doesn't grumble about my travelling so I will reciprocate

Any thoughts on this much appreciated!

They are both good. I personally prefer Rock Band, but I have both.

The earlier Guitar Hero games use only lead and bass guitar. Guitar Hero: World Tour, Guitar Hero 5 and the Rock Band games use lead and bass guitar as well as microphone and drums.

Guitar Hero: World Tour has a mode where you can create your own music.

Rock Band has a better music store for downloadable content, in my opinion.

I'd suggest having him look at the set list for the different games to see which one has more songs that he likes since I think that's really the most important factor.

I also bought the PS3 for blu-ray capabilities and bought my first ever video game when The Beatles Rock Band came out. Can't compare to GH, but the RB is pretty cool.

BTW, on the speakers--surround sound IS really cool and with the fantastic audio capabilities of blu-ray you'll really enjoy it.

Just don't let him buy cables at the local Audio/Video store, order them online!

We have both GH: WT and RB 1 & 2 and we prefer RB (our drum, guitars and mic are all RB too). There isn't much different in game play overall, same concept, just different songs.

Well, looks like Rock Band is the clear winner!

We have 5.1 sound now so don't know how much better 7.1 will be, but oh well toys are his thing
