Has anyone here done the Rock and Roll Half Marathons? I have done 7 halfs now, but never one in this series. I have signed up for the Chicago on Aug 1.

Can anyone give me some info on atmosphere and organization? What do you think of the expos for these?

Thanks,
Kathy

Kathy, RnRs are well-run events. They're well organized and have most things figured out as to how make an event work. The expos for the RnRs I've done have a good amount of vendors where you can find most things running/nutrition.

I've done RnR halfs: Country Music, Seattle, New Orleans, Las Vegas.

I believe there may be one or two other WISHers doing Chicago. Maybe a mini WISH meet might happen!

The Rock N Roll marathons are the best run events I have done. While the WDW is just as good they have the advantage of running on streets entirely within their property.

I have done Nashville twice, VA Beach, and the Philly run before it was a RnR but was run by the same people. The expo has a lot of exhibitors, the shirts are tech shirts, the medals are good quality and quite thick, the courses have plenty of water stops and support (provided it isn't an unexpected heat wave), and the after party is pretty nice if you like the band.

I probably won't be doing any RnR events this year but I would not hesitate to do any of them if they fit into my schedule.

I've done 4 RnR/Competitor 1/2 events: Country Music, Virginia Beach, Arizona and Philadelphia. The only issue I had with any of the events was with Arizona not having enough busses to get 1/2 participants from where they parked at the finish to the race start. The full started an hour before the 1/2 the year I ran. This was back in 2006; hopefully logistics have improved.

Chalk me down as a fan as well. Great expos, shirts, medals, course support, etc. Very well run events.

Let's see I've done the following RnR halfs:

San Antonio, Seattle, Nashville, Vegas, New Orleans and Chicago. Always lots of fun. DH and I will be doing Chicago again this year since we are only an hour away.

I ran the Las Vegas RnR Half and I gotta say I was impressed with how well the event was run. From the expo to the on-course support, everything went smooth. Well, except for the race announcer introducing Celine Dion as Cher before singing the national anthem. :rotfl2:

Another fan of the competitor events here. I have done the Philly Distance Run, Virginia Beach, and New Orleans. They are well run and well supported. Looking forward to doing Philly again this year now that it is officially an RnR event.
