Robin just called me a bit ago to tell me that her daddy, John Shipman, passed away earlier this morning.
Robin also asked me to pass the sad news on to her family here on the DIS and Community Board.
Mr. Shipman was 84 years old, and had been married to Robin's mom, Jackie, who herself had passed away just several months back, for over 60 years, God bless. He had been ailing for some time, in and out of the hospital and nursing home. I think from the many thoughts Robin has posted here over the years about her mom and dad, one can see a lot of love there. And that love had been passed down to Robin's son, Michael, who adored his grandma and grandpa.
Today is Robin's birthday. She said her daddy called her on the phone early this morning and at the end of their conversation said, 'Happy Birthday, I love ya'. Those were his last words to her. Robin said she knows he wanted to last out till her birthday before going Home to see her mom, his wife, Jackie.
As the tag by Robin's name here on the DIS says, Jackie and John's baby girl and Michael's Number one Fan!, Robin is their baby and they are today, together again.
Robin, my sincere condolences and prayers are with you and all your family. A big {hug} for both you and Michael. As you know, call for anything if I can help.
