I have decided, on day 7 of my program, that I should be doing one of these journals.
First, a little bit about me. I am a HS English teacher--I have all seniors this year. Our school is in the middle of a huge renovation project. At the end of the year I have to move into another building, stay there for a semester, then move back second semester next year. One day soon they'll bump me out of my room for a day to put the new windows in. The whole process of living w/ the noise and chaos, plus knowing EVERYTHING I have in that room has to be boxed up so they can do asbestos abatement this summer, is a little stressful. And SENIORITIS has kicked in in a major way.
I live about 25 min. from where I work. I don't mind the commute as long as there are no tie-ups--I have an IPOD hookup and XM so I always have something to listen to. It's actually kind of relaxing. I can want to kill someone when I leave work and be a lot better by the time I pick DS up at school. I do a lot of driving at night though too. DD#1 was a cheerleader this year--don't know about next year yet, she tried out but the list won't be up until Friday. She also dances 2x a week and is now in the chorus of "Fiddler on the Roof". DD#2 played basketball in the winter and will be playing softball soon. She also likes theater and was in "HS Musical" at her junior high, and dances one night a week. DS is a cub scout right now, but baseball AND soccer are coming up. DH helps a LOT with pickup and dropoff and such and is coaching DS's baseball team. Unless he's out of town or on a sales call I can have him help if I need to be in 2 places at once.
That's good for one entry--I'll write about the weight stuff  next one.

OK, here's what I'm here about:
I have never been thin. I was about average to a little over in high school, but I was not what anyone would call "fat". I was a size 9 junior. After a bad breakup in 11th grade I lost a lot of weight and got around 115-120 (I am 5'7") and went into a 7--I even owned one pair of size 5 pants!:cool1: But when I met DH senior year I got all happy and complacent and was back into 9s by college. We actually found a letter I wrote him that said "I'm so fat, I'm up to 125"!:rotfl: I could cut my arms off now and not get down to 125!
By the time I got pregnant with DD#1 (now 15) I weighed 149. I delivered at 184. Using nutrisystem I got back down to 149. When I got pregnant with DD#2 (almost 12) I had only gained 5 back and weighed 154. I delivered at 184 again. I lost weight with Jenny Craig after that, but I think I only got down to 155. To my horror when I went for my first weigh in pregnant with DS (9 in June) I was up to 174! I delivered at 198. I was able to get back into the high 160s low 170s, and our first Disney trip I was right around there. But it kept creeping up. 2 years ago I was 186 and DH got sick with guillan barre and during that time I went up to 200 where now I sit. Except on nutrisystem the last week I've dropped 5 pounds, I think.
So here we are. I'll add to this tomorrow.

Today I had NS chocolate chip granola bar, yogurt, and raisins for breakfast. I had a NS chocolate raspberry bar for lunch with salad and a hard boiled egg. I already ate dessert because I have to go to my DD's cheer banquet tonight since she will miss most of it due to play practice. It's at a restaurant so I am not eating, but will eat when I get home.
Yesterday I was able to walk the dog for 30 minutes and shoot hoops with DS (just shooting though, no bumping and weaving or anything) for 15 minutes because it was so nice. Today it's not so nice and I don't know if I'll have time to do anything. But just keeping on the plan is a victory after a week!
I do belong to a gym but haven't been there since September due to driving everyone around. I plan on hitting it pretty good spring break though, since the kids have a different break.

Hi and welcome! It sounds like you have a great start. I don't know a lot about Nutrisystem. Is that one where they give you the food? WTG for having a plan for the banquet. Eating out is always a struggle for me! Keep up the good work! And congrats on making through your first week!

Yes on NS you get the food. This is perfect for me because I have little or no willpower and with WW there was more temptation.
I've been on for 9 days now with no problems. The structure is really working for me. I think I've lost 6 lbs. I know that's a lot in a small period of time, but I hope to lost at least 10-12 the first month before things slow down.

Well I had a little victory last night--we went out to dinner and I didn't ruin everything! That's happened on diets before. We go out and I get my usual--a steak or a burger or whatever. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings and I found "naked tenders"--I got 4 small pieces of grilled chicken on skewers. Not a lot of chicken, but perfect for the portion sizes on NS. I got them with sweet BBQ sauce but just for a little side dipping. With about 4 iced teas too! I had a salad when we got home (am not paying $5 for a salad when I have tons of it in my own refrigerator).
Now I just had breakfast at the time I usually have lunch because I slept in, so I have to wait a couple of hours for that. It's gloomy so I don't know if I'll get to walk today or not.

Welcome to WISH, Robin!

HS English - ICK!! My DS17 is finishing up an online school & all we have left is English 4 & Physics. UGH!!!

Sounds like you're on the right track!

Hope you have a GREAT weekend!

(we don't get graded on our wonderful content & grammar here, do we??)

Good for you! You should be so proud! And I definitely wouldn't call that a small victory. I have ruined more then 1 diet by going out and totally blowing it, letting it get me down and ruining it for good! You are doing a great job!

Hi Robin,

Sounds like you are on the right track!!! Keep it up. Congrats on the doing well while eating out!!!

Hope you are having a great day/weekend :)

We went to Buffalo Wild Wings and I found "naked tenders"--I got 4 small pieces of grilled chicken on skewers.
Way to go for making a healthy choice. That is one of my favorite restaurants.I know they have awesome food and it must not have been easy.

I have had a good week. I had a little setback Sunday at my niece's BDay party. For the first time my in-laws had no veggies to snack on! Just chips, etc. So I had no snacks. The meats were beef hot dogs and hamburgers so I had 2 hot dogs without the bun. I also had a small piece of cake but no ice cream--and probably 3 diet pepsis.
The good thing is my MIL was there and invited us for Easter dinner, and I told her I'm on a diet and would she please make sure there is a plain green salad available without dressings on it. She is trying to lose too so she said that was fine. I also told her I won't be eating mashed potatoes so she laughed and said she wouldn't buy as many potatoes. I do have to bring a cake though so we can celebrate DD#2's BDay that day ( it is April 11) so I'm wondering how I can make the standard chocolate/chocolate cake all my kids want without eating batter and frosting!?!;)
Since Sunday I've had no setbacks and even went back to Buffalo Wild Wings last night and got those "naked tenders" again. It is so easy to distract myself there because I play one of those trivia games they pass out! Today I start spring break and didn't eat breakfast (normally at 7:15 when I work) until 11AM--now I'm working on lunch which I normally would have eaten 2 hours ago! I'm also going to try to go to the gym later.
