roasting your own marshmallows??

Can't fish with yer hubby then,,we'll be coming at a later date.
Tell him to leave a couple swimmers for those of us who are coming late,:thumbsup2

A word of caution,,
apparently I have great accuracy with catapulting flaming mallows off of long handled roasting forks (even if it was a accident).

You may want to get the young'ns in a little practice,,:lmao:

So,,DOES YOUR HUBBY FISH ??

Note to self: Have kidlins practice flinging flaming marshmallows. Also, dodging same.

To answer your question, no, my husband doesn't fish. Works out well for us because I won't eat them. We might take time at the Fort to teach the boys to fish. I'll start checking freecycle for poles.

In response to guest requests, Disney has announced they will be providing sticks for roasting marshmallows. Please deposit the sticks in the large bins upon exiting the campfire area so they may be reused the next night. Bobby has assured me that they will attempt to sanitize them, but he figures if you get a stick with some residual marshmallow guts stuck to it, consider it a Magical Moment.

:rotfl2: You know there will still be those rule breakers who try to slip past the deposit bins and keep their roasting sticks.......

Look, I'm sorry,,OKAY ?!?
I felt so guility I brought back those 3-D glasses to the Muppet Vision show on our next trip.
Give me a break, okay !

Last time we went we brought our own sticks and mallows. We will be doing the same this August (and the bug spray.)

One note:if you are flying and you pack your sticks TSA will most likely hand search your luggage. We were the lucky recipients of an additional search. Good thing we didn't have any locks on our luggage. I certainly don't mind the extra precaution because of odd looking items. It was interesting finding the special note left by the TSA agents letting us know that our luggage had been searched.

Definitely worth bringing your own bag of $.99 mallows and sharing them with new friends!

I have also seen people with hot dogs on sticks. The s'mores, after 1 or 2 get too sweet.

In addition, we have seen an entire group of boy scouts bring their own blanket and camp chairs and come sit right down in front of the front row of benches and it was not an issue with the CM. We felt slightly jaded after getting there an hour early to get a front row seat, but apparently it's acceptable to just come with seconds to spare and park a large amount of boys up front and their chairs almost touching our legs because there were so many of them (boys, parents, siblings). This was our during our first trip so we just were not expecting this.

During our second trip no one sat down in front. We did bring DD's hula hoop to entertain her because again, we always get there way early.

FYI - down in front of the benches the ground is covered in rocks, so I can't imagine laying on a blanket being comfortable but that is just where they had the kids. The parents were in the folding camp/sports chairs. Oh.. and they also brought a folding table and put it down close to the movie screen opposite of the sing-a-long stage. There two mom's had a "S'Mores Station" going on for the boys to come get their materials to make their s'mores. Seriously we were quite surprised. My DH is a boy scout leader and I have 3 boys and we just would have never thought of doing this. We also later scoped out the boy scout group camping area (which we did like) and noticed they had their own fire pits there (for S'mores and more).

Dh & I got all bit up by mosquitos last September. Our 4 year old only had like 2 bites.:confused3 Will be taking bug spray this year.

We bring our own s'mores supplies, lots cheaper that way. I can't believe the boy scouts did that!

It's a LOT cheaper to bring your own marshmallows (A tiny bag at the Fort is, like, four bucks!) BUT . .. it was easier for us to just buy their roasting sticks. They were something like 50 cents each, maybe 75. And, with all the other stuff that I needed to pack, load, haul, bring, unload, and marshal, I didn't want to have to worry about bringing the marshmallow sticks.

As it was, I left 4 bags of marshmallows at home and had to resupply at the local Winn Dixie! :rotfl: We're STILL eating marshmallow krispie treats here at home.

I have also seen people with hot dogs on sticks.

:thumbsup2 My hubby does this. He sets up a whole little assembly line - plates, buns, ketchup, mustard (for me), etc. He's got a great big roasting fork for the dogs and separate ones for marshmallows! We use it as dinner cause we're too lazy to cook and too cheap to eat out every night! :lmao: :thumbsup2

And whoever asked about mosquitos - YES!! If you are the one that gets bitten, you will get bitten at the Fort. My poor DD gets put in long pants and long sleeve t-shirt and still covered in bug spray. Poor thing gets so many bites and they swell so badly she ends up in the emergency clinic. We now travel with our own steroid cream. :sad2:

My wife and kids went to the campfire and movie when we were there in April and she told me the family next to them brought chicken beef and veggies and big sticks and had there kids cooked Dinner! She said she thought it was weird at first but when it was cooked it smelt really good!

Hmmmmm...maybe we can buy pre-made shish kabobs at the local store, hotdogs & smores ingredients! But my son might have a fit if someone's marshmallow touches his roasted hotdog over the pit! ;)

fyi..Target dollar spot has the extra reach metal marshmellow sticks..you need the long sticks, that fire pit gets high, and is verrrryy hot!!!:thumbsup2
