Roaring Forks ???

We were just able to book WLV for 3 nights late April with our holding points. Is Roaring Fork similar to Mara at AKL? Being BWV owners we were quite impressed with such a great counter service place and we are hoping Roaring Fork is the same. We've only been to WL once, I think, and that was just for dinner at AP. We are getting the Deluxe DDP for this segment of the trip so we will be getting mugs. Where exactly is RF located? Is it convenient? Can you get drinks anytime you want or do you have to wait in line like at the BW bakery?

I wasn't overly impressed. If I recall, it was kind of tucked away in a lower (basement?) type area. During my last trip where we stayed at POR, WL, and visited others at Pop Century and Beach Club, we found that the best food courts were at Pop Century and POR, followed by Beach Club (still not that impressive) with the WL pulling up the rear. My thought was that they put more into the food courts at the cheaper hotels because they figure that that the guests there are less inclined to dine at a table service restaurant.

DH and I quite like Roaring Fork. We've eaten there a few times. It's below the lobby level very close to the WL pool area. There are doors nearby that lead to some outdoor tables with umbrellas so on a nice day you have the option to sit outside. We've eaten both lunch and breakfast there. They do a nice hot breakfast. We don't buy mugs but the area where you get soda and coffee is self serve so I expect it works the same way it does at The Mara.

It is like Mara or Pop - you have a separate area to refill the mugs - but it can at times have a line.

like hamburgers. of course love Por hamburgers.

best yet, if raining, you can still get to it under cover.

It is about as far from VWL as you can get - straight back from the MK boat dock. It is close to the WL main pool.

DH and I really enjoy Roaring Forks, in fact on our last visit we were on the DDP and went there from the MK just to enjoy the salads that they make up fresh as a counter service meal. I do like the boat ride to VWL as well, so it was all around a great diversion. We rode bikes afterward.

the salads r very good & the sandwiches a nice change of pace from chicken fingers (which my DS proclaimed tasty)

before the redo a few years back, we didn't really care for it; pizza was terrible

We love Roaring Fork.

It's Fork, not Forks btw.

They do have custom sandwiches which one can order.

The burgers weren't that good last December, unfortunately, but they have them and fries.

One of the main reasons we stay at VWL because of Roaring Fork. I love BWV but the counter service is a little lacking.

I agree that Roaring Fork is as good as the other counter service areas such as Mara, Captain Cook, etc.

I think that their Bounty breakfast is great and I love the salads and the turkey sandwhich with the brie for lunch. I think they have a great selection and the meal plan can be used very effectively there. I absolutely love the vanilla cupcakes and I think they share their bakery with the Magic Kingdom. Congrats on snaggin the ressie with your holding points. Have a great trip.

We have found it to have a nice selection for QS credits and are amazed at some of the things we used our "snack" credits on last year!

We have eated all 3 meals there throughout our stays and I have to say that it has one of the BEST breakfasts around as far as QS meals are concerned!

That is a little spooky . I can't believe we posted about the same two issues at the same time and yes I agree 100% - Great minds do indeed think alike .

I haven't eaten there in a few years as the service is WAY too slow for my taste. Or it was, anyway. Before they redid the place our family would go there for breakfast and it would be really very quick. After they redid it, my husband and I tried it once. It was very very slow to essentially wait for each person to order breakfast and get it at the window. Previously, there were breakfasts already plated that you could just pick up and take (eggs/bacon/hash brown). We couldn't get breakfast done and still be to the park by rope drop so we didn't bother to try it again.

While I'm not bellazachmom, I don't think she'll mind me answering and she actually may be doing so right now. You can get cupcakes, brownies w and w/o icing, cookies, muffins, bagels, bear claws, veggies (celery & carrots) with ranch dressing, chili, chips, doritos, cheetos, bananas, oranges, apples, yogurt, mickey ice cream, dry cereal, and a large assortment of beverages. I can use all my snack credits there and not feel like I missed out on anything. For some reason, I could really go for a snack.

my kids love Roaring Fork! It's one of our favorite things of VWL.

We like Roaring Fork(s) for the sandwiches. DH and I enjoy walking around the resort and having a lunch there on occasion--especially when we are doing our annual tour of resort decorations at Christmas time. Sometimes we will have lunch there on our way out of Disney World if we don't feel like a pizza at Wolfgangs or flatbread pizza at the CR (two of our other favorite lunch spots).

I like roaring fork fine for a fast food at disney. They ruined the pizza, but I have to admit I like that roast beef sandwich they added back when they changed. I used to think the burgers were good, but now not so much. Overall, it is fine for fast food. It isn't a big food court like at the moderates, but it isn't supposed to be, it is more like a grill. I think it is better than mara, which has never really impressed me, and I like that they don't have the weird self-order thing like captain cooks.

I agree in general. Personally, more than half my families dinners are TS, but that doesn't mean we are the typical 'value' demographic! In Oct '08 DW & I stayed at All Star Music and we really liked the salads they had there...
