Roadtrip resources

What are some good resources for planning roadtrips. I want to find nearby attractions, campgrounds, etc. The current trip I want to plan is Chicago to Niagra Falls and back in about 2 weeks. We'd like to out of our way if necessary to visit amusement parks like King's Island, maybe Hershey, etc. We'll definately drive a different route back than we take on the way there. Any good resources short of buying guide books for each state?

We use it all the time in our motorhome and it's great for finding food, lodging, gas, etc. It's not heavy on things to do, although it covers some of that. But I don't leave home without it.

I'll have to investigate this more. I assume you have to be a member? We aren't this year.

If you become a member at AAA, I had my dad make a suggestion for our cross-country trip next year - just go in any of their offices, tell them what states you want to see and you'll get all the books you want, free of charge.

KOA.com will show you all their campgrounds in each state. I plan my trips by campground locations.
I think it's $24/year, you don't have to join, if you do you get 10% off the nightly rate.
