Roadtrip from Kansas, March 11-21 PTR!

We are a roadtrip-loving family from Kansas. It's nice being in the middle of the US since it means equal access to both coasts.

We are gearing up for our roadtrip starting March 11. Here's our cast:

Me, the momma, 29:

: DH, the daddy, 40:

Sam, my baby boy, 8:

Kenzie, my princess baby, 5:

Patrick, my goofball brother, 19:

who now has a ridiculous beard:

This is sure to be a crazy adventure. We've never been on a roadtrip with my brother, but he's sure to keep us entertained. He's a lot of fun, keeps us all laughing.

Only 25 days to go! Stay tuned...

So here's our itinerary so far:

Tuesday, March 9
Pick up our SUV from Avis. $620 for 2 weeks, unlimited miles, including taxes and fees. Not too bad. The minivan is almost $800! We'll make do with the full-size SUV (they say Chevy Trailblazer or similar.)

My last day at work!


Wednesday, March 10
DH's last day at school, kid's last day at school.
Pack like crazy, think of all the last minute stuff.

Get brother Patrick so he can spend the night with us.


Thursday, March 11
Leave at 6:00am.

Can it be done?? YES! We will awaken to a prepacked car, quickly change into comfy travel clothes, and hop on the interstate!

On the road! We'll drive all day and then...
arrive in Tucumcari, NM between 3:00-4pm local time.


Friday, March 12
Leave Tucumcari, NM at 8:00am
Drive all day, stopping for lunch at a nice restaurant.
Arrive in Flagstaff, AZ around 5:00pm local time


Saturday, March 13
Leave Flagstaff, AZ at 9:00am
Drive all day, stop for lunch someplace quick.
Arrive in Carlsbad, CA around 6:00pm local time
Have a nice dinner somewhere (?)
Chill out at the hotel, West Inn & Suites (voted one of the top 10 hotels in America at TripAdvisor!)


Sunday, March 14
Spend the day in Carlsbad. Go to the beach. We *might* go to the zoo, we're not married to the idea though. After all that driving, it might be nice to just relax around the beach and hotel. I think we're just playing this one by ear.


Monday, March 15
Drive up to Anaheim
Arrive at HOJOs!
Go to Disneyland that evening!
We've talked about driving through Hollywood before arriving to HOJO, but not sure about it. Is it worth it? Just to take pix of the sign, say we saw it?


Tuesday, March 16 through Thursday, March 18
Park hopping between DL & DCA.
Need to make a good plan for the parks! We'll have one MM to do too!


Friday, March 19
Head back home.

I'm from Kansas City...you've got a long drive ahead of you! How many hours?

We're near Wichita. It'll be approx. 8 hours of driving 3 days there and back. It's intense, but with 2 drivers to share the wheel, it's not so bad. We've done long haul road trips before, and we love it! There's nothing like the open road! And our kids are great travelers, air or car.

We've made our ressies for the Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique! Kenzie is getting the hair and nails package, and Sam is getting the knight package.
