Hey guys, we will be leaving for WDW Sept 11 and arriving Sept 12. we leave to come home on Monday the 21. We have decided to make a bit of a road trip out of the ride home and sight see.We live in PA, so we have a nice far drive :) My question is, have any of you ever done this before? If so, where do you stop? We would like to not venture too far off course, but want some cool pics. We will be leaving DTD between 2-3pm, and would like to stop around 7 or 8pm for food and rest. About where will we be 5 hours from Disney? Any suggestions where to stay?? Any and all advice would be appreciated! We willhave 2 kiddies as well! 8 and 3.

TIA!

We drive one to two times a year to WDW from Western NY. My children started doing the drive when they were each 18 mo. old. Depending on how fast you drive (cough, cough) heading north from WDW there is a great children's museum in Savannah, GA - I think it was closer to 6 hours - a bit out of your way but also fun for the kids and a great area. I don't remember off hand what time it opened or closed but it was a great stress reliever for the kids after a day of driving.

We have also just done the drive and found a good hotel with an indoor pool and explored whatever town we are in. We call this our "Adventures." We drive and ask locals for their best opinion of the best local diner, sightseeing spot and things we must do while in their town.

Hope this helps some. :)

Thank you! We will be hitting Georgia too late for the museum, but we have some wonderful museums where I live! so thats ok. good idea about the "adventure" though!

I think it's shorter than five hours but St. Augustine is right off I95. Oldest continuously occupied city in the United States. Across the little inlet is Vilano Beach which is very uncrowded. Nice place to stop for the night. Ocean is right there plus things to see in St. Augustine.

A long, long time ago, we did the trip from Pennsylvania to Florida and our stop on the way back was Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

That is where I would love to stop. But since we are only stopping one night, it has to be the first night. We wouldnt get to Myrtle beach in time, unless we left dinsey way early...and I'd rather time in DTD:goodvibes i will look into St.Augustine though! thanks!
