We'd like to go "away" for one week at Christmas. Anywhere within a days driving distance (around 10 hours) of Oakville, fun for the kids, shopping, restaurants... Really we are open! We're not big winter sports types so a ski vacation is out! Any ideas?

If you don't often go to the Niagara Falls area, it's a great place to visit, even in winter - lots of things to do with the kids and great shopping. There are some light shows at the Falls and some great waterparks as well. Best of all -in wintertime the rates are drastically reduced.:goodvibes

We've done NF lots of times - we're just over an hour away so that's often a day trip!
Keep the ideas coming! (strange to be making Christmas plans while sitting in the hot sun!)

1. Boston is about 8 and a half hours away and is an amazing city with tons of things to do. Excellent children's museum (my kids would spend the whole day there) and also a great aquarium. Great shopping. Natick Mall is just outside Boston and has EVERYTHING. My absolute favorite city.

2. Another great city is Chicago which is approx. 10 hours drive. I don't know if you have a girl but there is an American Girl store there.

3. Quebec City is approx. 8 hours away.

Hmm... I haven't been to Boston since our honeymoon (love it there!) and NY would be cool too. Wonder what they would be like to get around in the winter.....worth a think though!
