Has anyone lately made the trek from Las Vegas into Anaheim on a Sunday morning? Wondering about road construction and general traffic situations.

Last summer we left CA and headed for Vegas on a Sunday, about 10/11ish, and the road going back to California (the part where it's just the 2 or 1 lanes in the middle of no where was really really backed up and moving very very slow. We headed back in the middle of the week and didn't hit much traffic. Not sure about construction?? Good luck!

we drove out this past Wed night and the roads were fine we didn't have any issues. Now when we were leaving CA heading back to Vegas Sunday around 2pm it was bumper to bumper cars of people heading back to CA

well...I'm wondering if it would be easier on a Sunday morning to drive in from the north...entering into CA at Bishop. I just hate driving thru all those little towns for 5 or 6 minutes at a time at 25mph. The NV stretch isn't bad at all.

Any ideas?

Very simply if you can beat the hungover people checking out of the hotels Sunday morning in Vegas it will be fine. Can you get Vegas behind you by 10am? That is the question.

Ok...I hadn't thought about hotel check out times and yes I can be on the road before 10...more like 8:30 or 9. We are staying in Henderson if plans stay as they are now.

Glad to hear no major road construction going on...hopefully all will go smooth!:worship:

Yes, i would say that the earlier you leave, the better the traffic will be. Also, you can check the Caltrans website for road construction if you want to make sure there isn't anything planned for when you'll be there.

Thanks for that info...will keep an eye on construction. If they have cameras on that site it would be great!

We just drove from Henderson to Anaheim a week and a half ago and left on Sun. morning from Henderson. We left by about 8:30 am. We wanted to miss all of the people leaving around hotel checkout time and we really wanted to get to DLR so we could go into the parks.

We didn't have any major slow downs and no construction at all. It was a smooth drive and took about 4.5 hours.

We stayed at the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Henderson and can recommend them. It was 78.00 for the night on a weekend (incl. taxes) and the hotel was clean and comfy and only about a year old. Breakfast was pretty good, too. (and free)

Thanks so much for that info...exactly what I was looking for. Plus, we are staying at the same hotel so that was a nice review for that as well!
Makes me feel much better about that route!
