So, we will be road tripping from Wisconsin to Florida this summer, and I want to put together a binder of activities for my 5 yr old ds. There's a lot out there! One thing I'm having difficulty finding are simple state road maps, so I can highlight our route, and he can follow where we are. He LOVES maps! Is anyone aware of a site that has printable maps for each state, black and white preferably?

Safe travels from our Badger and Cheesehead State. Our trip is in 182 days. Good luck on the map finding. Another option is taking a picture of several popular hotel chains, and place pix on a blank paper. Then, on each page for hotel chain, make columns for the states you travel through, and have her mark each time in each state she sees a chain. Breaks up the bordem, esp through the long state of Illinois. Put all of this in a three ring binder, to make easier marking and doodling. Not sure if you can do this or want the mess. Large bag of unseasoned popcorn. Blunt thread and yarn, and let her make a popcorn string for the birds and squirrels to hang on tree by site.

If you are AAA members you can still order trip tics. My 6 year old loved the one I ordered her for our last trip. Also, the last few Disney trips I printed (simple ) journal pages for the kids for our days there. They love rereading them now that we are home

I remember the older trip ticks from AAA. Nice bound flip book, very awesome. Last time we requested one, we got this crappy printouts from the regular printer that were difficult to read and were of the same quality as if you had gone to Google to get them and printed out the route. I was highly disappointed with it.

Are you saying you can still order the old style?

We like to put up a laminated strip of paper across the ceiling of the car above the visors. I put the states we will cross on it. I use a paper version of our car and clothespin it across the strip as we cross states. My kids love it.

I agree with the binders of activities. Our favorite is road trip bingo. I play along too as I drive..it's so fun. I found state specific ones somewhere once so longhorns in Texas, palm trees in Florida.

My kids are big movie watchers. That helps a ton.

Also search Roadtrippers.Com for quirky little roadside attractions.

We've road tripped Texas to Wisconsin, Texas to Colorado, Texas to Florida, Virginia to Florida, Florida to Texas. Best rule ever: when we stop for gas everyone must get out and use the restroom :)

Good LUCK!

PS - We like to stop and get a picture and the state signs.
