Would appreciate an update from anyone currently in France as to how the roads / parks are.

Leaving tuesday night for Premier Inn at Ashford and very early Eurotunnel on Wednesday.

Last year the french motorways were clearer than ours so hopefully the Kent councils might make some effort on the M20.

not good the VEA and park shuttles weren`t working yesterday or this morning

We are booked on an early shuttle Tuesday morning and plan on setting off a lot earlier than usual. Hopefully the snow will have been cleared a bit by then. We are going to make sure we have supplies in the car (blankets, food, water and a spade) though just in case!

Just an idea from a friend recently, old car mats are great if you get stuck. Just put them under the wheels and away up go!

Hi guys,

I'm not sure when you are due to return but we travel on the 28th, driving down using the eurotunnel. I'd be really grateful when you get home to hear how your drive was :)

Thanks, have a safe drive and a lovely trip :goodvibes

We are back on the 24th so I will post about conditions when i get back.

Thanks for the tip about old car mats, I think I'll get the ones out of our other car just in case. We can always buy new ones.

Drove back last night.

Snow on and off during the week, and blizzard conditions for about 1 hour on the motorway last night.

Not a lot of gritting going on generally, and motorways tended to be gritted during/after the heavy snow fall.

We have a 2 wheel drive, automatic, car based van, with all season tyres, and managed fine. Just took it easy, and used the gear changes rather than brakes on the hills.

Well worth the effort, as the Parks look fantastic :santa:

Thanks - we're due back on 26th so will let you know how the roads are etc

We have a large 4x4 with snow traction so should be okay - the problems tend to be when 2 wheel drive slip.

The parks look great in the snow but it was wet feet from poorly gritted parks were a problem last year but everyone has snow boots this year (lesson learnt).

Thank you both I'd really appreciate any updates :) I'm really starting to worry about it now - My mum is coming with us and I've planned a really magical trip and tonight she suggested calling it off  I have all fingers crossed that everyone travelling to DLP over the Christmas hols get there safe and sound with no major delays :worship:
