So what's this I hear about flying roaches in Florida???

I HATE bugs, roaches in particular.

Please say people are making this up :)

I've seen flying roaches in Alabama, but for the past ten years I haven't seen any flying ones in Florida.

I do know Florida (Orlando) has flying love bugs a couple times of year for like a month each time.

Love bus are small car mush, but not roaches by far. "Love Bug" season is twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Not as yucky as those flying roaches.

We have huge palmetto bugs. I sprayed with bug spray once and it flew right at me.

Well, we lived in Mississippi for a year and the base housing (airforce)had HUGE bugs that the base entamology (bug people) folks said were palmetto bugs...but I'm sorry that is just a nice name for roach. But, they don't carry the stigma that they carry up here in the north...as far as I know. Everyone gets them...and then you spray and they're gone. They just freaked me right out. We couldn't get rid of them because when the people came to spray, they only sprayed our half of the house and we lived in a duplex...they just moved next door for a bit and then came back  . Finally I got in touch with the powers that be on the base and they sprayed both sides...they stayed gone for quite awhile. Never saw them while in Florida, but I'm sure they're there.

I have seen the large roach-like Palmetto bugs (a roach by any other name is still a roach!) in Orlando - at IOA, in fact. They are gross and disgusting and totally freak me out. I have learned to deal with the flying wood roaches we have around here. They usually invade the house in the spring when the thunderstorms start and then just live in the woodpile for the rest of th year. They are disgusting as well, but not nearly as big as palmetto bugs. YUCK!

Yes, it's true. One got in our house one time, and the kids were totally freaked out!!  You don't see those very often, thank goodness!;) ;)

I don't know about Palmetto bugs, but when I lived in the city we had roaches. Skeeeeeve me out!! I had many exterminators tell me that you just THINK you get rid of them, when truthfully the best you can hope for is to CONTROL them. GROSS!! EWWW! YUCK!! God, I hated them. Always turning on lights and stamping your feet. I STILL wash every casserole dish I take out of a cabinet!!

Yes, we have palmetto bugs...and from what I have seen, they tend to come out at night. Have gotten up in the middle of the night and been freaked out about them, those critters can be huge. Never seen them fly though.

And my Siamese cats ( bless 'em! ) would jump up and get them!!!
I cannot imagine a worse nightmare bug. I HOPE I do not see any at WDW!!

We used to see roaches in California but ever since we moved to Michigan, haven't seen one!! I'm staying put!
