RnR rocking Providence RI Aug 7th, 2011

OK, I'm in. Gotta love those discounts!

Haven't posted on this board in a looong time but this post caught my eye! I am in MA and actually did a half in Providence this past May which was a lot of fun.

August around here can be very hot and humid, esp if it is anything like this summer. May or September, much nicer, even maybe June. This sounds fun though, I've heard good things about the RNR races, something to think about!

They posted the map on the webpage finally. It starts at the Capitol Building at 7am. We run a little along the water as well. It looks like it's going to be fun!

Since a few others mentioned they'll be in Savannah, I figured that I'd chime in too. I registered while at the Princess. It's a 4 hr drive for me from Florida. A friend in Savannah will be running it too, her first HM. Looking forward to it.

I am running this one. I am really excited. This will be my first RnR race.

i keep thinking about this one, but i'm on the fence. if i do run it, it will be as a training run since i'll be in the height of marathon training. on one hand rnr races are very $$ for training runs and it's going to be so hot..but on the other hand, i get to knock off another state, and more rnr bling since i already ran one in new orleans earlier this year.

i just don't know!

If it makes you feel any better I used two RnR races (ok, one was the pre-RnR Philadelphia Distance Classic) as part of my marathon training in 2009. True, it is a little expensive but how many of your long runs get you a medal? :goodvibes

:lmao: i like the way you think!

i think i'll see how the cards fall before i make any final decisions. i'm already committed to running 4 half marathons via nyrr so i can get into the nyc half marathon in 2012, and 3 of them fall under marathon training. once i figure out my schedule of my long runs, if the rnr works great i'll add it in...but if not, forget it, there's always next year.

My dh and I just signed up! I'm just coming off of Princess and I need a race to keep me motivated. Even with staying overnight, it's still a lot more economical for us than a Disney race!

I hope we get a big WISH contingent!

Nope you make it. Another state and bling too! Love that.

I'm looking forward to this.

Hmmm, maybe we need a RnR Savannah thread too?

I'm looking forward to this one too. I just signed up for RnR St. Louis and Vegas.

Can't wait!!!

Booked my flights today, it's now official. Now on to finding somewhat "affordable" Sox tickets for the Yankee game on Friday night. It's going to be a great weekend!

Getting in my steps. Glad I've got time to work out the knee issue I've seemed to develop recently.

Yes it is!!! I'm so excited! My sister and I went to a Sox/Yanks game a few years ago and it was so much fun. I think pairs are starting around $100 each in the bleachers. It's going to be a late night and not a lot of sleep, but that's what the commuter rail is for Saturday morning. :goodvibes
