Riviera preferred view worth the extra points?

Does preferred view give you views of fireworks (hopefully taking place in June) from EP and/or HS? If so, will they be too far away? (compared to MK fireworks viewed from BLT?)

I realize that the preferred view will be mostly green spaces, and standard view will be mostly parking lots. What else can you tell me about the views? How about requests for certain locations? Are the preferred views worth the extra points? We've never stayed at the Riviera, and will appreciate any help or advice you can give us. Thanks!

Standard view high floor = Epcot fireworks.

Preferred view = Caribbean Beach Resort.

We had a standard view in November (8th floor). While no fireworks, we could see Epcot ball. We loved the Riviera and would stay again, but only if we could get standard view again.

I’m all about the standard view. The preferred is way over rated.

I stayed last week, and was upgraded to a preferred view. It was of the pools, the lake, and the Caribbean.

Exactly. It was nice that I got upgraded to a "preferred" view at Riviera. But it didn't really do me any good. Now I am at AKL with a savanna view, and that is a different story.

So if you are only ever staying at AKL a single time go for the savanna view otherwise from having stayed in two different Standard Views there both were good (close to bus) and (partial savanna).

With Riviera right now in Standard View there is the upside of the high floor Epcot view so possibly you want to roll the dice. Flip side Premium is going to have a fair amount of good views.

High floor is typically best for sweeping views.
"Preferred view" tends to be pools/water
Standard Views are everything else

Similar to BLT, I don't think there are any "bad" views at RIV. There are some great views, good views, and okay views...and all the views tend to be highly subjective. Some folks really like being able to see the Magic Kingdom/EPCOT ball...others can only see parking lot and would prefer the water/scenery.

We stayed at a RIV standard view studio. I asked for "high floor" and ended up on the 8th floor. While it was mostly parking lot, We had a view of the Epcot ball. I loved sitting out there on my iPad at night winding down from the day looking at the Epcot ball.
