I want to start off by saying that I usaully am very pro-disney. However....things are really starting to slip at this resort. I have stayed there before and have loved every minute. This time there seems to be a general theme during the entire stay. I am sure some of you will disagree with me but just want to offer my experience of the past few days.

1) Checkin on a Friday. At least 90 people in line 5 windows open about 10 not open. 45 minute wait. Got to window and CM was very snippy and not very pleasant!

2) Could not access a reservation for MNSSHP, sent to another window (guest services) One window open at least 10 people in line. Got to the line after 30 minute wait and was told they could help me go to the park to get the tickets. Even though another CM had sent me there.

3) Long lines at the Food Area. Needed more cashiers....(lots of empty registers no CM to ring people up.

4) Went on Saturday to make a PS at Guest Relations and was so thankful we wee not checking in. the line stretched to the door and back.

They really need to increase the budget to allow more people to work. It seems to get worse every trip!

THe parks were great. The food and wine festival at Epcot was SUPER! Can't wait to go back....although maybe not at Riverside!

PS Do NOT ever use the phone in the room to dial long distance! Day call from FL to MA was 4.76 per minute plus tax! One call to get a message was over ten dollars! Bring your cell phone and make sure it is charged up!
 
Thanks for the update, hopefully we won't have the same problems this December. :mad:
 
We had a similar problem with out MNSSHP tickets at CBR... but it wasn't the resort's fault - it was bad info we got from Disney when we ordered the tickets.

The CM told us that they would mail the tickets to the resort and have them waiting for us, but when I went to guest relations at the resort we found out the tickets were not there. They were at the Will Call window at the TTC. According to the CM at CBR, they never hold tickets at the resort - they are always sent to Will Call. So at least in our case, it was not the fault of the resort - it was a misinformed CM on the telephone.
 
Let me say that I have stayed in POR 3 times before this last stay. We were there from 10/06-10/16. While the rooms were clean and the building was convenient (15), the overall service in the resort has changed. I booked three rooms and requested that all three be on ground floor, two of which needed to be connecting. Also explained that parents were disabled couldn't climb stairs...would also be having oxygen and an electric cart for mom to be delivered and kept in room. Also requested a refridgerator, (needed for baby food). Then called the day before arrival to reconfirm was assured that all of this was taken care of. When I arrived late on the sixth not one thing was correct. Had to wait until the next morning to try and get it straightened out. Wasted half of the seventh trying to get it straightened out finally three cm's later (Thanks Alberto and Carol) got mom and dad in a first floor room and connecting room for the rest of us on second floor. The best was one cm, Dave (very rude) told us that the resort was booked at 103 percent and that nothing is guarenteed. (Let him haul that cart up to a second floor). The very best was Dave said he would set us up at another resort but it would take awhile go have breakfast and come back in an hour he would take care of it . We came back and he was gone and no one new what we were talking about. That is were the two great cm's came in and fixed it as best as the could. By the way on my reservation it did say that the ground floor and connecting room were guaranteed. Had a really nice trip otherwise. Terri
 

I stayed at the CR 12th floor for the first time from 10/15-10/23. When we arrived we checked in at the front desk and the CM wasn't very nice either at first (I think she had to warm up to us) I had requestes on my reservation originally but decided to re-ask about them when she was looking for an available room and she seemed to be really annoyed when I asked her about it. Also our reservation consisted of a room only for one night then a continuing reservation for the rest. Well the CM gave us some phamplets and said we can re-check in on the 12th fl conceirge the next day. Sooooooo we did and it took them 3 days to get me my package booklet that they give to you. I also had 25 disney dollars coming to me and it took them 3 days to get that for me and including the pieces of paper that said I can choose one of their features(ex: dinner at planet hollywood, minature golf etc) To me paying the money to be on the conceirge level and it took them 3 days to get me my paper work. It was really annoying.
 
DW and I were there (POR) earlier this month and one CM told us that they have been very under-staffed lately. That being said, we had a wonderful time with no big issues. Love the new mattresses and fridges.
 
We've stayed at POR many times, and I've always thought the worst part has been the checkin. To me, their checkin is slower than other resorts we've stayed at. Even with most of the windows open, I usually end up standing in line for over 30 minutes. That being said, we just returned (checked in on a Sunday, 10/17), and I only had about a 10 minute wait. I really just think it's a timing issue, as soon after a bus or two showed up and the line became much longer. It would be nice if they could speed things up a bit. Maybe eventually they will have some self-serve kiosks where you could do some things like make PS, check balances and charges, get tickets, etc.
 
Sorry to hear about what happened at PORS. It is one of my favorite resorts and I certainly hope that things don't continue to head in that direction.

I don't know if you asked to be placed in the AB section but if you decided to go back and stay at PORS with the family again, the Mansions would be a better choice as your parents would've had an elevators to 2nd and 3rd floors (if 1st floor couldn't be accomodated) and they are just as close to the main building as some of the AB buildings. However after you last experience, I could understand why you wouldn't want to go back. Hope that this didn't affect the rest of your vacation.
