Riverside or French Quarter

You mentioned the have recently remodled POFQ - with all new furnishings incl. bathroom sinks. Did they happen to add any extra storage at the sink area? I have looked at pictures of the rooms (as they were before with pedestal sinks) and that is the only drawback I could see in the room. I prefer a sink with a countertop so I can "spread out" all my stuff and not have to dig around in my bags all week for toiletries. I know it's a small detail, but that's what I'm into - the details. One reason I love Disney - they are into the "details" too!

I haven't seen the new interiors, but I know that was a concern with many guests. I want to say I heard that they did add storage space and used a countertop design instead of the pedistal sinks. But I am not absolutely sure.

does FQ have trundle beds or just Riverside?

also, are the beds full or queen?

Just Riverside in Alligator Bayou. You have to request, because not all of the rooms in AB do.

I believe someone asked about the size of the beds. They are double beds at both POR and POFQ. Then some of the rooms at POR have a trundle bed. I think this is a twin bed or probably even a little smaller than that.

I am looking at staying at PO next trip and also have to make the decision as to which resort. They both look great. I have also purchased the clear holder, however I bought a smaller 9 pouch version. It is not a shoe holder because the pouches are smaller, but enough to hold all of my things and doesn't take up as much room.

Don't want to get too far off topic...but yes, the shoe bag is a GOD SEND! We've used it on all trips for the past three years and it has saved so much time and sanity!

BTW...we are going to POFQ in June and have heard it is the place to stay. And I can't wait to have the luxury of a fridge in our room!

They both have full size beds ... and yes only the Riverside has the trundle beds and I believe those are only available in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort. And btw, they do have a shelf across the double sinks (narrow, but it did hold our items nicely). But I DO love the idea of that whole 'hanging shoe rack' type thing! Thanks!!! :flower1:

:grouphug: Our family of five stayed in 2 rooms at POFQ just after the renovation and we absolutely adore that place!!! We are going to the Riverside in just a few weeks and are looking forward to it, but part of me still wants to go back to that intimate feeling of the French Quarter! It was lovely, quiet, romantic and just exquisite in all ways!! Not to mention the fact that its size is great when it comes to Transportation! That is the one thing we are NOT looking forward to at the Riverside. We tried to get ressies at Coronado Springs, but none were available, and since we just went to POFQ last year, we figured we would try Riverside this time around ... I dont think we will regret it, but my heart does belong to the French Quarter!!!

Another vote goes to POFQ here. Granted I've never stayed there (YET!) but it is one resort that dh, older dd and I are drawn to and will most likely stay there someday. It definitely appeals to us (also the slide looks like fun and everything seems so easily accessible and close), but we are also really use to being at monorail resorts and not solely relying on buses so making a switch is tough... but we are highly considering it this coming trip. We also had friends that honeymooned there (POFQ) and speak VERY highly about it. We value their opinions a lot, so knowing this - we are taking that into consideration as well.

Good luck!

We've stayed at both and prefer FQ over Riverside. The only thing I wasn't happy with at FQ was the gift shop which is rather small. We went over to Riverside a couple times to buy things. It's nice that you can stay at FQ but walk, take the bus or boat over to Riverside to eat at the restaurant, see Bob Jackson or just enjoy that resort as well.
