Rivers of Light in January?

We are planning for our January trip. Right now the calendar shows Animal Kingdom closing at 5pm each day. Do you think there will be any evening shows of Rivers of Lights then? I am trying to plan my dining etc. and I am not sure if I should plan to be in AK in the evening or not.

Right now RoL is listed as "delayed indefinitely". Until they are more confident the issues are resolved, I wouldn't expect any closing times to be changed.

Well, they have nighttime activities in AK now that have nothing to do with ROL. I am planning on the park being open for several hours after dark when I travel there in Jan/Feb.

Definitely agree-DAK will be open at night from now on(don't forget Avatarland is coming which is "designed" to best be seen at night).

I've read a generic "2017" reponse which pretty much means it won't be ready by January, I would think. Are there any specifics other than a possible ROL or nighttime Safari (if they offer it) to add to the list of after-dark AK activities?

I'm here now and was in AK tonight (very cool to be there at night, highly recommend). When I asked tonight if it would be ready next June, I was given a "hmmm, probably not, but who knows". Based on what I saw, I would say mid-August.

Park hours should be extended, though don't expect anything like an 11pm closing. In January, it would probably be closer to 8 or 9pm with the exception of the first few days of the month and possibly MLK weekend. Regarding RoL, their target right now is sometime between September and November of this year, but a recent chat with someone involved leaves me wondering if even November is wishful thinking on Disney's part...

2017 is the most specific Disney's willing to get right now. I have heard some internal rumblings that they're aiming for sometime within the first half of the year, which based on construction seems possible. That said, I would be willing to bet that we won't even see Avatar softs in January unfortunately. That in mind, there are some other great things to see at DAK after dark. The ToL Awakenings are FANTASTIC! Definitely a must-see! I'd also recommend taking a ride on EE after dark (it's really cool) and potentially taking some time to see the Harambe Wildlife Parti and the Discovery Island Carnival street parties. I was surprisingly impressed with both of them.

The ToL Awakenings are FANTASTIC!

I've heard these are really cool - excited to see them too. Right now they are saying AK will close at 5PM, but I have to imagine that will change - hopefully.

I'd also recommend taking a ride on EE after dark (it's really cool)

I barely made it on this one during the day time! I wonder if it will be even scarier being up that high in the dark...but perhaps for my kids, I'll have to do it! Thanks for the suggestions.
