We went for the first time a few weeks ago. There were 7 of us aged 5-63. The only one that liked it was DS who is 15. The rest of us just wanted it to be over so we could leave. :(

It was ok. Agree it's probably a one and done. But we enjoyed it. We did the dining package with Tiffins which is the best way to do it. We love Tiffins food and at $67 per person it's a steal of a deal. I got the $53 Waygu dish, add an appetizer and dessert and that's already way over $67.

In in the weirdo camp with you. Do not like Fantasmic (at HS) at all. Don't care if I ever see it again but we will see RoL each visit.

I must be a weirdo, too, lol. I do not like Fantasmic in the least little bit, but loved ROL! Just saw ROL in May for the first time, and can't wait to see it again in September! I thought it was beautiful & mesmerizing.

RE: Water Screens at RoL
We've seen it twice so far, once in April and once in June.
The screens were vastly better in June than in April. We sat in the same general location for both showings, dining plan seating, so it wasn't a seating position thing.
We could barely make out the images in April, and the water for the largest "screen" in the back didn't meet in the middle.
In June it did meet in the middle and we made out the images much better. They weren't as clear as you'd get in a flat screen or anything but they were pretty clear and we could tell what they were.
I had someone suggest maybe it was simply a difference in wind. But we felt it was more likely they had increased water pressure and probably a difference in wind too.

Though for us, the water screens didn't make or break the show. They supplement it to some degree but the parts we liked the most were the flower and animal floats and the water and light shows.

I liked ROL, but given your situation, I would skip it for this trip.

ROL was not my cup of tea, but I suppose some folks will enjoy it enough to make plans to see it more than once
