Has anyone tried booking Rivera at 7 months lately?… we are booking at our home resort tomorrow for 11 nights next August with hopes to switch to Rivera once the 7 month window opens in January

PV rooms are usually pretty accessible at the 7 month mark, and I’d guess you’ll have good luck for August.

Standard view rooms seem to go fast at the 11+ month mark but Preferred View rooms seem readily available a lot of the year at 7 months. Usually August is a slower DVC time,

I regularly check 7 month availability on the DVC site for "fun" - Riviera preferred view is pretty widely available at 7 months. Standard view often gets snatched up right at 11 months, especially the studios. I imagine August would be pretty easy, given the typically lower DVC demand.

Thanks for the promising replies!.. would normally do standard view but trying to use two years of points on one trip based on travel plans the next few years

It's fairly easy to get a preferred view room at the 7 month window. However, it's very rare to find a standard view room at the 7 month window. As owners, we always book a standard at 11 months. It saves a ton of points and you can usually get a good view of Epcot.
You can always book preferred at 7 months and do a wait list for standard view.

Some thoughts, SV is booking fast at 11 months so PV will be what is left.

My issue in August is the afternoon storms and the Skyliner shutdowns. I don't stay in RIV in August if I can snag any studio at BW or BC.

I would consider a split stay at BW / BC if you can find a block of 4 or so nights. I hate splits but with an 11-day stay, I would consider 4 at BW and maybe Poly for the rest since the points will equal out. PV at Riv is very point-heavy.

Thanks for the tips

That is definitely something to look into (regarding the split stay) I know this sounds a little weird, but we are trying to use two years worth of points in one trip and at a resort we have not stayed yet… as l next summer will be our last Disney trip for a couple years due to other travel plans

Realistically how often does the skyliner stop? We’re planning a two week split stay next summer (RIV/BWV). We usually vacation in August so used to storms, but this will be our first time at RIV. I was also pleasantly surprised when we were there in June how the skyliner seemed to run during rain (whereas before it seemed to stop at the first drop)

In all the times I have stayed, we have had the Skyliner down only a few times.

I've noticed only partial availability pretty regularly at 11 months for SV studios and 1 BR. Hope it doesn't stay like this much longer. I'm just as happy at CCV and it seems to be open at 11 months. Only bad thing is a bus to Epcot and HS which seems to be where we visit the most lately.

It stops any time there are storms with lightning or a lot of rain. And sometimes it stops for no apparent reason. I was trapped on a skyliner gondola for about 30 minutes earlier this year. While I still love Riviera, the skyliner will have to earn back my trust.

When are you going? I have 9 nights standard end of August that I will try to switch to a new resort at 7 MO. There's hope for you

My friend and I each booked preferred view studios for March. We will be meeting up and both booked at 7 months out with no issues.
