hello everyone Just Curious as to what has happened to river country? when I was there alot of the signs still had directions for it, but I never actually saw the park. Just thought it very strange for Disney to get rid of one of their parks, although I heard someone saying that it is where the new part of Saratoga spring was being built but I couldn't actually remember where river country was hehe.

River Country is out by Fort Wilderness. I *think* that it was hard/expensive to keep the water clean and it got closed :(

thats a shame I used to really like river country, the lazy river there was fantastic. Has it been closed for long? it just seemed it was there one yr we went then gone the next!

We visited River Country at Easter 2000 and I think it closed soon after that.

It was on a much smaller scale than the other two but we liked it! I even saw Goofy there!

I beleive Saratoga Springs had been built on the site of the Disney Institute.

If you get the Ferry boat from Wilderness Lodge to MK it sometimes goes via Fort Wilderness and you can still see the old River Country park from the boat. It all seems pretty much intact!

I believe the reason it was closed, was due to hygiene problems in the lake. They couldnt keep the water clean enough and decided it wasnt cost effective to keep it open. I could be wrong though, but thats the story that did the rounds at the time. Doesnt sound like something Disney would like to talk about, and you can never get a direct answer from a CM if you ask why it was closed!!
