river country and new resort rumor

i recently read a rumor that river country was being closed to build a new resort between WL and FW--something about buffalo? i didn't get all of it, so i was wondering if anyone else heard this. if so, i'd love to hear more. thanks!

Years ago there was a rumor about a resort to be called Wilderness Junction and another called the Colorado Resort.
River Country was to be closed to the public and used as the pool for one of these resorts. These rumors were around before Disney announced the new Villas at Wilderness Lodge. So I think VWL is what came about from those rumors. That doesn't explain why RC is closed now though.

I heard thru the Passporter website that RC was closed for refurbishment. Upon closing it was realized that too much refurbishment was needed. The pool and a slide from RC will be used for guests at FW.

I thought RC closed because they were having a problem with bacteria in the water.

thank you for the update. i have found an article talking about the 2 resorts--wilderness and buffalo junction that were discussed in the mid 90s. i have been trying to access an article where someone mentions that maybe RC is closed to actually go through with them, but it sounds like just a rumor. oh well.
