This is the only book that I've ever bought about WDW (I've used library copies of some Unofficial Guides). I don't like her newest one as much as her one from 1996 (no real rest. and hotel reviews on cleanliness, friendliness, etc.).

Can some of you WDW wizards tell me what you thought of the book or how other WDW books are in comparison? I personally prefer non-biased books.
TIA!!:wave2:

Hi:wave2:
Between my sister and myself we have lots of books on WDW. I think we tend to double up on them.
I like the Unofficial Guide to WDW, my sister seems to prefer Passporter. I also have the Rita Aero's WDW The Essential Guide to Amazing Vacations .
So far for the trip we are planning for next Aug.04 I like the Unofficial Guide the best, it has excerpts in it of what others have experienced which I find interesting and amusing. I'm suppose to be getting the new Passporter book in January.

Thank you, Montana Minnies, for your replies! Have fun planning!

Ok, I admit it.... I'm addicted to Disney planning books (and videos, and DVDs and.....)

I own the Official Guide, Walt Disney World for Kids by Kids, Walt Disney World With Kids, The Unofficial Guide, Disney Like a Pro, Rita Aero's book, The EconoGuide to Disney, Disney World and Beyond, and The Deluxe Edition of The PassPorter. I have read each and every one of them from cover to cover. Although I like some parts of each one of them, (i.e. ~ The UnOfficial Guide covers EVERYTHING that you can think of, although it tends to be a little overwhelming sometimes, The Official Guide has lots of great pictures, but it's a tad "sugar coated" since it is backed by Disney, etc. etc.) My very favorite one is The PassPorter. I think that you get the information that you really need to plan a trip, without being completely overwhelmed. It also has alot of "extra" features such as pockets to hold receipts and maps, budget worksheets, etc.

This is strictly JMO. Everyone has their favorites!

I like Passporter, and it's unbiased. I also like Birnbaum's Official Guide, it's biased.
I never cared for Rita's books, and the last one she wrote was published in May 2001. So if you want something old and outdated, go for it. I think you can find it on bookcloseouts.com for $4.95.

I don't want somethimg outdated. I've only bought *1* WDW book EVER, and that was her lateset edition-2002!!! I saw Aero's book from 1996 in the library, so I picked that up along with a few other WDW books. I liked that one. I have never tried Passporter, though. So next time I plan a WDW trip I'll probably buy Passporter since it seems that most people on these boards like it as one of the best; MAYBE I'll buy Birnbaum's.

Thanks to all of you.

although Rita Aero's is my preferred guide book(i even have an autographed copy that she signed for me at WDW), outdated or not, i also like Birnbaums and Passporter; however, there is a new book out there now with a website that looks great; i already ordered it but it hasnt arrived yet; there is also a newsletter that goes along with it soon to be available as well; you can get info on it here:

:) You're welcome Aesalsa, there are so many books out it is difficult to choose and like it was said everyone seems to have their favorites.
Howie, when you get your luxery disney guide book would you let me know how you like it, just send me a PM if you want to. I thought of ordering that one too, but then I have to try and save some $$ if I go to WDW again this summer. ;) Seriously if you like it let me know I may want to purchase it later. I saw an interview with the lady who wrote it a few weeks ago, it looked like she mainly enjoyed the GF.

What is the passporter and where do I get one? I have not seen them in stores. I am planning on my next vacation for Sept.

For those of you who have it what is the difference between the passporter and passporter deluxe?
