Ripped Off on Ticket Prices at the Disney Store?

To be honest if the OP can vent so can TDS employee. The only difference I have noticed at TDS is a drop in prices and I enjoy that! :thumbsup2

Well there is a slight difference....

OP is venting as a "unknown" person.

TDS employee is holding herself out as an employee. That actually does make a difference.

For example, my employer could care less what I post on these board UNTIL I start saying as an employee of XYX corp... At that point they would think I have crossed the line. It's something we should all keep in mind when we post. Putting your "employer" name on a post acutally can be dangerous to your job. There have been folks fired over things like that.

The OP obviously did not do her homework but had no problem trashing TDS. Yet you defend her right to spread false information and reprimand the employee for correcting her.

If you extend the OP the right to trash TDS, you must extend the employee the right to defend TDS.

And any company would be proud to have it's employees defending them in a public forum.

First, don't post a thread with such a nasty accusation without doing research to back it up first. I get that you got upset, but the thread title is rude and makes it look like TDS is trying to fool people.

First of all, isn't the OP's title a question not a statement?

Secondly: I agree, take a deep breath, both of you. If I had a nickle for every mistake I've made I'd be a rich son of a gun.

Let's get back to enjoying Disney!!! :p

I am the OP, and if you look back, you will note that I posted BOTH post #1 and post #11, in which I admit that I made a mistake. I was looking at the price for a 7-day BASE ticket with no/expiration, not a 7-day Hopper ticket w/no expiration, as an early respondent pointed out to me.

And yes, my thread title was a QUESTION, not a statement, thus the use of the question mark. I was HOPING someone would tell me I wasn't actually ripped off...and much to my surprise, that in fact happened!

Believe me, I have no interest in trashing the Disney Store, and I certainly am relieved to learn that I didn't pay more. And while the employee at that store did in fact give me INCORRECT information (I specifically asked if 2-day passes were still available at WDW itself; she ASSURED me that the answer was "No"), I'm actually not mad about that at all. As long as I paid a fair price for what I got, I'm happy. And it seems like I did! So yay! :cool1:

And I leave for Disney on Saturday!

As a TDS manager I can verify that the stores do not sell a 2 day hopper pass. Considering the amount of options and variety of tickets we are luck to sell them at all. Until last year we didn't sell the 3 day tickets either. The stores get, literaly, no money to sell these tickets and do it as a courtesy for Disney to people planning trips to their theme parks.

There is no discount on 3 or 4 day tickets, but once you go to the 5, 6 and 7 day tickets there is a discount off of the gate price, but not the internet price (unless you consider the handling fee for purchasing online). You pay Florida state tax on the tickets regardless of where they are purchased. Just like everywhere else, ask someone else in the store if you don't think the person you are speaking to knows what they are talking about before over-reacting.

TDS not being owned by WDC has nothing to do with anything...tickets have been sold this way since the stores started selling them. The only changes are the annual prices and the way the tickets work; all of which is handed down from Central Reservations.

I don't mean to be harsh but you have no idea the bad publicity that TDS gets from everyone, especially after the sale to TCP. I can't stand to see people flame the stores for no reason or before they research the situation first. It's not fair to the stores or the store employees and we don't need more people telling us we aren't needed or are trying to rip everyone off. It's this kind of attitude that helped Disney decide to sell the stores off in the first place. We were just lucky that TCP stepped in; all TDS locations were going to close by the end of 2006 prior to the takeover...just like Warner Brothers Stores did a few years ago.

Seriously? The OP was addressing a concern she had NOT blasting TDS. If this is the type of attitude you have, and I've encountered it on other threads you've answered :stir: , then I want to know what DS you work in so I can stay away from it. :furious: And yes, no matter how you feel, TDS that I have been in are not as good as they once were. If it wasn't a tie to DW and DL I wouldn't even frequent them!

The OP could of got a better deal on her tickets through ticketmaster.com or undercovertourist.com. They are always a better deal than buying directly from disney. You can get a further discount by signing up for mousesavers.com news letter. It comes out on the 15th of every month and includes a link to discounted tickets.

While I agree that there was harshness in Linzybrooke's reply, it is appropriate to edit and revise a thread title, whenever it comes to light that it contains inaccurate information, even in question-form. Such loaded-language is bound to get people upset, one way or another, and at this point it is clear that it is without reason.

:confused3 on the back of your ticket it's stated that when you buy them you'll get a "special" 1-800-#, it should be printed on the receipt?? well it's not printed on my receipt and every time I ask at my ds all I get is a smart reply of I don't know...take it up with disney????????????????????? I haven't been back to my ds since I bought my park hoppers. before Christmas............ :rolleyes1
