This was my third trip to IOA, but the first time we road DDRSF. I was highly disappointed with it. The themeing in the ride was sparse and did not follow any theme. It does not compare to Splash Mountain at MK. The outside of the ride looks great, but not the inside, there was a lot of empty space and bare walls. We got soaked but it was well before the big drop.

Ripsaw is a weird ride. the theme is basic that you're following dudley as he rescues nell from snidley whiplash. the animation goes along with it, and it's just a weird ride. i've noticed that you get wetter from the smaller drops than the big one...

One of the biggest troubles for Dudley is that the natural comparison is to Splash (which is likely the greatest flume attraction in the world.)

Quite honestly, Dudley could be the second best in the world but it wouldn't matter since Splash is so incredibley well done.

I personally like Dudley quite a bit. But agree that it is inconsistent with the quality of Spidey, Popeye and JPRA. Still, a heckuva lotta fun.

splash is only like a 50 ft drop or so at a 45 degree angle. often people use that info as the comparison to JP's drop (85 ft, 50-55 degree angle) and Ripsaw's (75 ft, 45-55 degree angle)

If you are old enough to have seen the Dudley Doright cartoons you would say that the theming is the same as the cartoons.

Kind of sparse and hard to follow.

For those of us old enough to remember the cartoons they were dull action and bad puns.

However, it is a cool ride and the drop will make you want to hold onto the handrails inside the log. :smooth:

please, I'm a teenager and EVERYRIDE that is compared to the ones at disney looses. Maybe its be but I hate it when these rides are compared. Dudley has the greatest thrill I have seen on a log flume around here. The hulk's ride compared to RRC. Flying Unicorn compared to barnstormer. Even popie comes out better then the one at Animal Kingdom. And please, don't compare MIB to that poor horrible buzzlightyear ride. I can only tell you one ride at disney that is better then the ones at IOA.- Tower of Terror. Other then that, if your not 40 or 4 IOA is better.

I think I got off topic, Oh well I feel better now.

I have annual passes to IOZ/USF and I have to say that Dudley is very boring. Like most people on here it has no theme and no imagination. I guess I am spoiled to Splash. The drop at the end of Dud is so hard on the body that you come out feeling injured. Even the 5th grade students I take every year to IOA hates it. Thats about 60 kids in a day and each year they refuse to ride it due to how ugly it looks. I give a 2 thumbs down!!

Now why would you say something like that ?
I can imagine the flack I would get if I mentioned something equally as harsh about Disney & the Disney fans on a different board.
tsk tsk :(
Hope we're never in the park on the same day.

I am sorry to those that took offense to my message. It was not meant the way it was written. What I actually meant was that like most of the thoughts about Dudley it is boring and dull. I did not mean everyone here is that way. So if I offended someone then I am sorry. We all make mistakes when we write and no one should be ripped to shreads because of it.

And for the person who asks how I know the 60 5th graders didn't like it, well after the trip each child has to write an essay on the good and bad points of IOA. Each child, and I have the proof, said that Dudley was the worst ride at the park and would not want to ride it when they go back.

Thank you very much.

Let me be the first to say I misunderstood you.
I did think you were saying we are all boring old farts !
I am sorry you took my post as "ripping you to shreds".I don't see how it could have been construed as such, but again, I admit I misunderstood you. I just hate to hear anyone speak in a negative fashion about one of my favorite rides.
I meant that, as negative as I thought you were being, I would not want to be around that type of "negative vibe", especially in my most favorite place.
And, if I was going to HHN, it certainly isn't to meet up with you for any reason. We obviously have very different taste in rides.

Haggy, signing off, possibly for good.

Seahag,

No biggie! Don't be upset:( It's all just a misunderstanding. I'm sure he also misinterpreted your, "Hope we're never in the park on the same day" comment. Hence the "settle it like an animal comment".

Just ignore and please dont let it upset you enough to not post again! It wont be the first time people have a problem communicating and interpreting intent and meaning of written words.

I would miss your posts! :D

.

Some areas of the attraction could use some improvement, like the bare walls here and there, but there is plenty of theme and imaginiation in that ride. They could not have done a better job turning the world of Jay Ward into a ride. You really can't appriciate it until you have seen some Dudley Do-Right shorts. Granted, it was before my time.

Before this gets out of hand I would like to say yes I did misunderstand your email comment just as you misunderstood mine. This just shows us how important it is to make sure we always examine the written word before posting. Again, I meant no harm in any of it. I was just trying to post my opinion which is what a lot of the message boards are about.

I am not a "internet tough guy", I am just a person who made a mistake. We all do, no one is perfect.

Cool ride, hope they keep it.
Always amazes me how many people stand on the bridge at last drop to watch (looking for their friends & family no doubt, get that awesome Kodak moment!).
My fave comparison 'tween Dudley & Splash Mt: Dudley's free, no buy Dis tics no mo'.
