Rip Ride Rockit - still long lines?

Oh gosh! This vertical lift talk has me nervous. Is it like the vertical coaster at Cedar Point? What is it like?

I personally love roller coasters, except steep vertical DROPS (where you get that stomach feeling). Will I like this?

Maybe I will let the kids go on and tell me what its like. Although I don't really trust them because they would think its funny to trick me to ride the ride.

I can do Rock n Roller Coaster, Space Mountain, etc. I did not go on the vertical coaster at Cedar Point but did go on the Mustang (?? can't remember name). I didn't go on Millenium Force. I won't go on Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America but will go on the Demon.

Rip Ride Rockit is nothing like Dragster at Cedar Point. First of all, it isn't launched like Dragster. Secondly, it is much shorter. Dragster is 420 feet tall, Rockit is 167 feet. Thirdly, it is much slower. Dragster reaches a speed of 120 mph where Rockit gets to 65 mph.

Riding RRR is on my little list of things to do this summer. I didn't do it last year, don't really know why. I only stayed for 4 nights, and this was during opening week of WWoHP so you can imagine that I didn't spend too much times in the studios. However, when I was in there, I chose not to ride RRR, and I kinda regret it now.

I don't like the vertical lift hill. It's scares the bejeezus out of me, and I am a big coaster junkie. Sure, they scare me but in a good way. But RRR kinda scares me in a bad way, and I think if it was located in a less reputable park, I would probably cross it off my list for looking rickety and "too unsafe". However, I know that's not really an excuse at USF.

I just know that it will get stuck as I am going up the lifthill. I suffer vertigo if I feel insecure at a great height (not in planes) and the thought of an evacuation on a vertical lift hill...

Oh trust me it really isn`t as bad as it looks.

I thought I was going to chicken out.....just because of that vertical climb. It does look bad. I too will go on any coaster, but man...that climb looked fierce.

But as soon as I did it....I was straight back on........and by the about the 8th or 9th time on the ride I finally opened my eyes going up :thumbsup2 The first time I was so scared Tom tried to take my mind off the climb by getting me to fiddle with the music choices............I ended up with the Beastie boys but was too scared to let go of the harness to change it. I hate the Beastie boys!!! One of my favourite rides now though.

Our videos were embarrassingly funny :rotfl:

It's not bad at all. The last time I rode it was my son's first time and he was only 7. He was scared at first but only wanted more. I was more worried about his little body from the G-force. Now he is tall enough for the Hulk and DD and can't wait unit our trip next month.

My wife on the other hand won't even go. The last big coaster was Hulk in 1999 after IOA opened. She gave it a try and was white as a ghost after she came off.:lmao: But she does everything else besides Hulk, DD, Doom, and RRR.

I thought I had seen some sort of virtual "ride" on RRR and it didn't look bad. I seem to remember that you don't actually go straight down after the initial climb. You kind of wind your way down. That's why I thought I could ride it. However, I didn't pay much attention to the vertical climb.

What service do you have? Ive only been able to find WDW apps

I actually have a Droid...I found two. Park Hopper and the other was just Universal Orlando wait times by Versa Edge Software. I used them when we were in the parks and they were pretty accurate.

Park hopper has alot of different parks, We used it in Busch Gardens Tampa.

Good Luck. :)
