Sad to see this. From my home state.

Fun fact, Elvis Presley (another Mississippi native) died just months before he was to be the opening act for our brand new coliseum. Charlie Pride did it in his place. My parents and aunt and uncle were there to see Charlie opening night.

Thankfully, he lived to be awarded The 2020 Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. His acceptance speech was memorable, so real. He passed earlier today from complications of Covid -19.

My parents LOVED Charley Pride and listened to his albums all the time. He had a great voice and his live performances were just as good as his recorded ones. He was immensely talented and no one can fill his shoes.
