Anyone else watch Oprah’s interview tonight? Or plan on reading the book?

Man she looks like her grandmother Priscilla!

Did note there was very little mention of Priscilla.

did not watch but after reading a news piece earlier today about how lisa marie kept her late son's body at her private home for 2 MONTHS FOLLOWING HIS DEATH (with riley's assistance) i don't think i'm up to that read :scared1:

No and no. I was never into Elvis, so I really have zero interest in it. Even with the "Oprah Seal Of Approval".

I watched, and would like to read the book. We toured Graceland several years ago, and I’ve always been an Elvis fan.

I heard that was done because they couldn’t decide on a Graceland burial or California. Sounds like he had special embalming, supported my a mortuary, and the body within the casket was kept in a very environmentally controlled room much like is done at a funeral home. The way it was relayed it actually didn’t sound too crazy.

I respect your view.
For me though, it's beyond crazy and very sad.

A little more to it than just that.

Riley Keough, 35, said in the book that her mother wanted to “have ample time to say goodbye to him, the same way she’d done with her dad.”

Presley was 9 years old when her father Elvis Presley died in 1977, at 42.

“Having my dad in the house after he died was incredibly helpful because I could go and spend time with him and talk to him,” Lisa Marie wrote.

She had been mulling where to bury Benjamin — either at Graceland, the home of Elvis, or in Hawaii.

“That was part of why it took so long,” she said in the book. “I got so used to him, caring for him and keeping him there. I think it would scare the living f---ing piss out of anybody else to have their son there like that. But not me.

Later, both mother and daughter got the “vibe” from Benjamin that he didn’t want to be there anymore.

He was buried at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.

“I felt so fortunate that there was a way that I could still parent him, delay it a bit longer so that I could become okay with laying him to rest,” Presley wrote

they also brought in a tatoo artist who they had viewing the body so he could replicate the late son's tatoos on their bodies. can't imagine what they guy who showed up thinking he would be looking at photos thought when they took him out to the dry iced/heavily air conditioned guest house, popped open the casket and asked him to use it for reference.

with these revelations it's no wonder lisa's ex michael with the support of her mother fought for her NOT to have custody of the twins. not something i would want any 11 year old (at the time of their half brother's death) being exposed to.

Sounds a bit...well, more than a bit...strange to keep your son's dead body in your house for two months, even in a respectful way. However, I have many sets of ashes from deceased loved ones in my house and it gives me comfort, so I sort of understand.

I love Elvis, always have. The family? I don't follow them much or anything except when they make the news.

I’ve had quite a bit of education on grief-work and a lot of experience coming along side those who grieve, particularly bereaved parents. It’s a crushing experience to lose a child and very personal; there’s not much that I would ever judge. But that there is not normal or healthy.

I think there wasn't much normal or healthy in either Priscilla or Lisa Marie's youth leading them to unstable adulthood.
Hopefully Riley is more stable.

I don't know their biographies but was Priscilla's young family life horrible. I know she was a military brat and that her parents were pretty much letting her marry Elvis at a very young age, but was there more to her story?

The young marriage was one thing. But I think the letting her date & stay at his home when she was 14 & he was 24 is what gets me.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I often try to put myself in that situation as a parent. Priscilla was probably going to "flee" if her parents didn't permit it. Imagine your daughter dating the most popular pop star of the time period. They certainly didn't put her first but if they told her no and locked her in her room, I think I know what many teenage girls might do. I think that whole situation came up with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith way back in the day. Different times back then where no one looked askance at very young girls being with younger (but still adult) rock stars.

Basically this. She finished high school while living with Elvis and her family was in Europe. It was far from the normal teenage experience.
