Hello-

I have a question for all of you who carry around bags and/or backpacks in the parks.

I usually have a fanny pack and nothing else with me so I have never encountered this problem, however I will be carrying a bag with me this trip. It is not a very large bag, something like 14x12 and zips up.

Can you think of any ride were they won't let me on with it? I really don't want to leave it in a locker or next to the loading area for when the ride is over.

I can only think of a couple of rides where it may be a problem. RNR, BTMRR, SM, and MS. Am I wrong? :confused3 (I hope I am :p )

Please tell me your experiences.

Thanks

I went on RNR and BTMRR and SM with my backpack and it was fine. I slipped the strap through my legs and sqeezed it between my legs for good measure. I never had a problem with it. I did not go on MS but I would imagine it would be the same way.

I will be carrying a messenger bag that crosses over my chest. Is there any rides that I would not be allowed to take it on?

At Soarin they have to place any bags (that won't fit in the pouch under the seat) at the side of the aisle.

Most rides have space under the seats, but in the case of when you go upside down, I just hold my purse tight between my knees. If it zips, I make sure it's zipped. Other than that, you should be able to take smaller things like backpacks, on the irde.

RNR? Really? That's great. I was sure this ride was one that did not allow bags since it goes upside down.

That's good to know. I just don't want to stand in line just to be told that I can't take it on the ride and I will have to leave it behind.

I am afraid that it would not be there when I returned.

I took my backpack to all the rides, no problem, Space mountain, RNR , splash M, TOT etc.

I just put it on the floor nad hold it down with my legs.

I put my leg through the strap too, just in case! Had no problem at all on RNR.

There are no lockers at rides for bags. Every Disney ride can accommodate most bags. If the basket at Soarin doesn't hold it, you can just leave it on the floor with your flip flops. I usually carry a messenger bag and it's gone on every single ride with no problem.

RNR was designed for things to be in the floor. They can put a basketball on the floor, run the coaster and the basketball will still be rolling around on the floor when it pulls up at the exit point. No worries at all on RNR. The bag actually bounces around more on ToT, lol.

Will an average size backpack fit in the "pouch" on Soarin?

Yup, it's a stretchy basket. Unless you've got it jam packed, I would think the average backpack would fit. The only backpacks I've seen not fit are the oversized ones.

I brought my backpack on all the rides including Space Mountain and the Rocking Rollercoaster by putting it at my feet. At Cali River Rapids in AK they have a semi-water proof compartment to your "carry on" items.

I pack an small trash bag so that when I go on this I put my bag into this 1st and then into the compartment so that anything I don't want to get wet won't!!! Remove from trash bag and dispose of bag in proper place.

Like OP have said slip one leg through the back pack and it will be fine. i've done it many times. this time we will have our double stroller but if it's something we all ride then i'll take my small bag with me w/ our stuff that can't be replaceds, ID's, tickets, room key, $$, cameras. All the rest i will leave in the stroller, changes of clothes, diapers, wipes, drinks, snacks, ponchos, ect.

What if you are carrying expensive equipment, like a video camera or a regular camera? Will they get banged up on rides, even if the camera bag will fit? Or should I just leave them in a locker?

I have a padded case for my digital camera that I put inside my big bag and it's always been fine. I don't carry a video camera though so I can't help you there.

I do the same as everybody else. Been on all the rides with my bag, just tuck it between your legs (I usually put the strap under one foot) just in case. I have never had any problems in 10 years.. Good luck :wave2:

Lately I've tried to have nothing on my body but a fanny pack...in the past, though, I have had a backpack(the kind with only one strap that crisscrosses your body) and have taken it on all rides with no problem. On RnRC I didn't even take it off. It was flat enough that I slid it around to the side and then pulled the bar down over me...no problem. I don't imagine this would work with a regular backpack...which is why I loved that one so much!
