Has anyone ever done this?

Now that we have APs, I want to sign up! Just wondering how the selection process works - is it first come, first served or more like a lottery where they pick from everyone who's signed up by a certain date? We won't be going back until late May, but I was hoping to sign up ASAP.

Any experience with this??

Thanks!

How hard is it to get picked? It says first come, first served, but how many float spots are we talking and how many people register (generally speaking)?

Also, I know this is a stretch, but if we purchased APs online and only have the vouchers (not exchanged for actual APs with #s yet), is there any chance of signing up??

Thanks!

You wouldn't be able to use the voucher, when you do the AP sign up it asks for your number, so you'll have to have the actual AP. I haven't done Mardi Gras before but looking forward to it on my upcoming trip (and hope I get picked for the parade too! lol)

They also have a standby line as well if you are unable to sign up for the AP. If you just go to Barney about an hour before the parade, if not a little more, there should be a line you can stand in. About 45 minutes before the parade is when they'd start pulling from the line. The farther back you are, the lesser your chances.

Good to know....thanks! Is this just for people with APs, or can anyone (without an AP) be part of the standby?

I went ahead and signed up for the date in May. It says they'll let us know if we get selected. It also says "first come, first served", so hopefully we will know something sooner than later. :confused3

I'm an overplanner, so I'd love to know the details about how the pick and when they let you know if you're chosen, but I can't seem to find any details!!

The email and website both say it has to be in by noon the week before the date you select, so that leads me to believe they'll let people know either later that Friday or early in the week you're date is. Crossing my fingers we both get picked!

Anyone can do it, not just annual passholders. However, it seems if you've bought your AP with an Amex card and have the receipt, you can just walk right in and get wristbands.

My friend entered to be on a float and she was selected for this coming Saturday. She received an initial email last week and will get the specific details this week. I'm really excited because she asked me to be her guest. :woohoo: :yay:

There is a special American Express float entrance line. I don't know details but saw the sign back by the MIB-Springfield area.
