Has anyone ever rode their bike to MK? I have Keys To The Kingdom ressies for 8:30 and thought about riding my bike over using the path to WL then the streets to MK.

Not a good idea. Those are major highways and plus, it's been reported that any joggers or cyclers not on a legal sidewalk on property have been picked up by security.

Your best bet is to take a small launch from Ft. Wilderness to the Contemporary, they start at 6:45 am, then walk over to MK from there.

Major highways??? Never considered the security thing though I know I have seen bikers on roadways all over WDW on almost all of our trips. I always comment to my DW on how cool it would be to ride around and the speed limits are low, unlike the streets around our house.

Sorry, BDR. Can't swim. That's me on the launches looking for the chests with life jackets in them and I also walk in the middle of those docks. Kept me from doing triathalons back in the day because I used to run.

Between the late-for-work CM's and the I'm-lost tourists...:scared1:

I'd take the boat :thumbsup2

I've seen some pretty spectacular accidents on the roads on WDW property. Couple that with the fact that in most cases there are no or minimal shoulders, and I'd advise against riding a bike on the WDW highway system.

Come to think of it, from the high perch of a Disney bus I have seen uniformed CM's driving like they are late quite often, especially in the morning. Didn't realize the boats start so early, I'll use that so my DW can have the truck in case her and DS go to BB while I'm gone. You know since I can't swim. Been to BB before and had fun but I know they'd have more fun without me.

Unless you're looking for an extreme adrenaline rush, it may be best to stick with the boats.

Many times, I saw cars (usually rental cars) at a full-stop in the middle of the highway with the driver holding up the map . Couple of times in the left hand lane of I-4....

CM's only get a couple of "occurrences" a month. Being late is a BIG DEAL.

The roads on WDW property are also curvy on purpose to control how far and what you can see. Not a good place for a bike.

We rode our bikes from the Campground to the Contemporary - ONCE. It's fine until you get to the Wilderness Lodge. We rode our bikes through the parking lot and over to the road that leads to the Contemporary. That's when it got a little tricky. We ended up riding on the grass to avoid all the traffic. We haven't attempted it again.

My uncle is an avid biker. He was out biking and security told him it wasn't allowed, too dangerous. Although he was way over by the race track. You wouldn't catch me out on those roads. We've had too many close calls in our vehicle.
