Rideshare for 6 people

Does anyone have any experience taking 6 people (carry-ons only, so no big bags) (we're three adults, three kids) from MCO to Disney in Uber/Lyft? I see that there is an option for 6 people, but is it realistic? I have no clue what type of vehicle it has to be to be considered used for 6 people for these rideshare companies. Has anyone ever done one rideshare with 6 people and luggage?

Thanks!

No experience but you need an Uber XL at least.
By carryon, do you mean backpacks? Or small suitcases?

A lot of the UberXL I have booked (admittedly, not a lot) have had room for 6 people and that's it. Many of them were "smaller" vehicles (Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, etc) with a 3rd row seat, leaving little to no trunk space. With 6 people and any luggage that you cannot hold in your lap (like a purse), I would split up and get 2 rides. You could put 4 + luggage in an UberXL and the other 2 could go in an UberX.

We use ride shares for 6 people at girls weekend every year. I have had the same experience as @kristenrice. The vehicles have a third row so all 6 of us can fit but we could not bring anything more than a purse. There is no room for luggage as that third row is used for people.

Thanks everyone. That’s what I was afraid of. I was hoping they’d be more Yukon, etc. I think we’ll probably plan for two.

Even with a Yukon, you're talking seven people in the vehicle plus even a backpack would be too much for me. I'll pay the extra $30-40 to not be that uncomfortable for the 30-45 minute drive to WDW.

If you're staying on-site at WDW, have you considered using Mears Connect? Yes, it takes somewhat longer to get to your resort but since you're going to need 2 ubers/lyfts anyway, the price might be similar or even much less, if the rideshare prices would be high when you arrive.

You would probably be good with a Black SUV from either Uber or Lyft. They seem to be limited to Tahoe/Yukon sized vehicles and don't allow for crossovers with a 3rd row.

This is definitely why I asked. I don’t know car sizes that well but last time we did five people fine all with luggage and I think it was a traverse so I thought Yukon etc would be more then enough room but if even the smaller ones become an option it won’t even work for sure. Thanks.

I would consider this but I think the savings on ordering two would be too great. We’re definitely gonna have to make a decision. I just know I hate scheduling stuff so either way it’ll be some rideshare.

Thank you everyone!

We had 6 adults, 1 child 3 golf bags, we hired Tiffany Towncar. They met us at bag drop and also stopped for a quick grocery run. We were in a big Sprinter Van. Even included a car seat for the child. HIghly recommend.

I saw the xxl that seems to be only bigger suvs. Have you experienced this working?
I have not, we are in the same situation so I’ve been doing research. We just decided to rent a minivan - it will cost us an extra $300 (over Ubers) but we will be there during spring break and we’ve waited 30 minutes for a uber XL before (we only had 4 people).
Vehicles that qualify for UberXXL:

  • Jeep Wagoneer
    • Chevrolet Suburban
    • GMC Yukon XL
    • Cadillac Escalade ESV
    • Kia Carnival
    • Toyota Sienna
    • Honda Odyssey
    • Chrysler Pacifica
    • Dodge Grand Caravan

FWIW, I have been able to put six people, full size luggage, carry ons, and backpacks into a Toyota Sienna. If I needed to add a 7th person, I could have (although possibly not their luggage).

The back row in our Sienna is a 60/40 split and had stow & go storage for the collapsed seat. That allows more floor space for luggage.
