Rides you just can't do alone...

So, while I'm getting ready for my solo trip, my youngest nephew just called me, all with the earnestness and concern of a 5 year old, just had to ask this question: "But what are you gonna do at the Mad Tea Party when you are all alone? Who's gonna spin with you?"

Seriously? Good question. Of course you can do it alone, and I'm usually pretty good at spinning the cups very very fast, but I think that's really a ride I would not enjoy doing alone.

This has me thinking - what are other rides that you just can't do alone? I can't really think of one, but then I hadn't really thought about Mad Tea Party either until a 5 year old pointed it out to me :lmao:

Does anyone has any advice about how to go about not having to ride that one alone in a cup?

I LOVE your nephews question!!! How sweet and adorable! :). I think, for me, any ride that makes me laugh reeeeally hard (like the Teacups) is more fun with a friend or loved one. Most things I'm fine riding alone.

My sister and I are big kids who love the teacups. She is the fastest spinner ever! Yes, it's more fun with her, but I love it enough to still go on it alone.

The one I REALLY miss her on is Buzz Lightyear - especially since she always "drives," and I'm lousy at that part. Our first trip in '99, Buzz was one of the first rides we did. We got off, looked at each other, and said, "Let's go again!" I'm better with doing TSM alone, since I've never done it with her yet, and the ride does the "driving" for you. Next time she comes with me, though, I'm sure we'll have a blast competing.

Wow, can I trade you for my sister? I love TSM and Buzz but she just completely hates it to the point she refuses to go with me. Reason? She never scores. Seriously, she just plain sucks at scoring. We went on Buzz twice and TSM once and from that point on she made me go on my own. I will never remember her face when I had 6 number figures at Buzz and she had only a lousy 650!

I don't have a problem riding anything alone. And you're right, any ride that makes you laugh is better enjoyed with company. I guess that's probably what nephew's biggest concern was - that I haad no one to enjoy it with! He can be such an adorable little devil sometimes.

I don't like to go on rides by myself. Its just one of those things where having somebody with you is what makes it fun.

I sincerely think you should bring your nephew so he can go on Mad Tea Party with you.

On my first solo trip I could not stand the thought of riding TSM alone, so I didn't. I was able to ride Buzz - several times. DH had been the one who controlled the direction joystick but I was able to do that and I still enjoyed the ride.

But, I love TSM and am determined to ride it on my next trip. There are no other rides that I can't do because I am alone.

I think my nephew would certainly approve of your thinking :lmao: He gets to go to DL Paris for Halloween with his dad and brother so he can have plenty of entertainment there. I'll enjoy my quiet time at WDW!

This is the kind of thing that keeps me away from solo trips. I had been considering one, but it does seem like rides would be less fun. Sharing them is part of the point, especially like the OP said when it makes you laugh.

Don't let it deter you. I did my first solo trip last year, with my first Disney race, first MNSSHP, and first F&W festival and I had a blast!! It was so awesome going wherever I wanted and doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted!

I agree with Belle post! Being alone and NOT having a tag alone kind of drags the mood sometimes

When I went alone two years ago, I rode the tea cups alone at night with all the pretty lights and used the time to take the best Disney selfie.

Although I enjoy touring the parks a lot of times alone, there are definitely plenty of rides that I'd rather have a ride buddy. Also, some of the park stuff like F&W Fest are more enjoyable with a festive crew.

Check around these boards as there's usually some other DISers always down at WDW at any given time. I think some of my dates overlap with yours (I'm down 10/23 - 10/31). Except for a couple days, I'm not sure what parks I'll be in on what dates, but I may be available to be a tea cup buddy ... which sounds a little strange after typing it.

LOL, sorry, no. :) I have the most awesome sister ever and she is not up for trade. (Although she is the one who usually wins at stuff like Buzz.)

I went solo yesterday and skipped Toy Story Mania, the Teacups, and Buzz Lightyear for that reason.

Tea cup buddy LOL it sure does sound funny. Same as you, I don't know yet which days I'll be at which park as I usually decide either the night before or the same morning. With my hopper, I may even change my mind during the day LOL I'd totally be up with meeting up. Maybe we can chat once time gets closer.

Even when I'm with people I still tend to ride the Teacups alone, because no one ever wants to spin as fast as I do (then what's the point??), so I don't mind that one when I'm solo. But I'm not a fan of TSM or Buzz by myself; those are just more fun with a buddy. I've never let being solo stop me from riding anything else, though.
