What rides are still open during the fireworks and PTN? Is it possible to actually hit a few more rides after Fantasmic? Or are the crowds too crazy? I am hoping to catch the early show on Oct 15, and since we will have already seen the fireworks go on a few rides. Will that work?

The attractions on and around Tom Sawyers Island (e.g., Mark Twain/Columbia, Canoes, and TSI) close before F! starts, but the attractions in NOS, Critter Country, Adventureland (except maybe the Treehouse - I think it closes because they don't want guests using it as a viewing area) and Frontierland are unaffected. In terms of riding the attractions...yes and no. They are open before, during and after F!, so it is possible to get in a few rides. Just note that the lines will see a significant increase as others that had watched F! also head to those nearby attractions. I certainly think you can get in a ride or two after F!, there might just be fairly lengthy lines (especially for BTMRR, Pirates, and HMH, which are closest to the F! viewing areas).

In terms of PtN, there aren't really any attraction closures (except may Storybook Canal Boats). Getting from one side of the park to the other can be difficult (because the parade route cuts right through the parks). Fireworks (all shows) impacts Toontown (all) and parts of Fantasyland (IaSW remains open, but things like Peter Pan, Mr. Toad, Snow White, Pinocchio, and the Carousel close - not sure about Alice).

The rides that close for Fantasmic! are the Mark Twain, Columbia, and the Canoes. For fireworks, a few rides in Fantasyland shut down and Toon Town shuts down. Everything else remains open. Rides remain open until park closing.

We learned this weekend that the monorail does not run during the fireworks -- not sure when it reopens afterwards.

The train also stops running at some point in the evening due to the shows.

We were hoping to hope on the monorail to exit the park to DTD with a short walk to the DL hotel and avoid the Main Street crush -- learn from our mistake, this is not possible.

Note - we also learned that the monorail doesn't run when it's too hot since it doesn't have air conditioning like the ones in WDW do. We had hoped to exit the park Sunday when we started melting and avoid the long, hot walk back to our hotel. Sigh.

They usually stop the train when the parade is running because the route crosses the tracks over by IaSW.

I would assume it remains stopped during the fireworks since it runs in front of Small World which is closed for them due to it being in the fall out zone - though I could very well be wrong.
