Hi,

Wondering if anyone on here can offer some advice/help about the rides. I love rides big time but i had a few operations last year so i cant manage a couple but mainly just like major ones like Rock N Rollercoaster because of the pressure. I should be fine for 99% of them though.

But the problem is that im trying to figure out which ones my mam and grandma will be ok on. My mam cant go on any that jerks you around too much becuase she has a condition with her bones/joints and stuff but she'll be able to manage some.
Then there's my grandma who has had a hip replacement and also joint problems but could manage like It's A Small World.

We sound like such a bunch dont we LMAO. I've never been to DLP before though and its about 11 years since my last proper holiday which was WDW. So im just wondering really which rides are calm, which ones are not too bad or ones that are quite rough?? I'll end up going on some on my own but i dont mind. I know a must for me is Star Tours- i loved that when i was little but i cant remember how calm it is.

oooh also i just heard about chicken doors the other day, lol. Do all the rides have these are just some beacause maybes my mam and grandma could queue with me and then if its a ride they cant manage, they can go out the chicken door lol.

Indiana Jones - very rattley - wouldn't recommend. I think the new Space Mountain mission 2 - still rattles your head and neck around but not as bad as the old one.

Some of the queues can be quite long and would you really want your Gran stood for that long. I'd suss out the queue times and let her go off and grab a drink and a sit down somewhere rather than queing with you - then arrange to meet back up.

If she could manage its a small world she'd be OK on peter pan and snow white too. Pirates might be a bit too much for her. Phantom Manor I think would be OK for her. Also take in some of the shows that way you can all have a breather.

Thanks for replying, that really helped. Yeah thats true about my grandma, i wouldnt want her or mam standing around for ages with me.

I know we deffo wanna see as many shows as we can and the Lion King sounds amazing too. I'm gonna sort everything out today hopefuly like write down about rides and places to eat and shows etc.

I've been looking at the different rides and the ones i'm not sure on are:

- Phantom Mannor (i dunno what type of ride this is)
- Buzz Lightyears Laser Blast (does it spin around fast?)
- Crush's Coaster (is it very fast or jerky?)
- Armageddon Special Effects (is it a simulator or something)

Also i remember Star Tours from America when i was little and i loved it but i cant remember if thats quite a jerky ride or not?

Ok hi.

Ruthie is correct Indiana jones big no no i'd say that is probably the worst ride there for jerkiness. Does my head in every time

Space mountain mission 2 - I'd give it a miss they never actually changed any of the track, only the scenery. I'd say about a bit rougher than Rock and rollercoaster. It's still rough on the neck and head though unless you know where to keep your head to stop it banging from side to side as much, which you only really work out through riding it.

Now for the rides you are unsure of.

Phantom Manor - Basically a small track ride like peter pan for example. Just a continuous ride in what they call doom buggies. Only thing is there is a constant moving platform which they can slow down if going through the main entrance which i would say is a big to do, because to me (being in a wheel chair the last few years) the rides are all brought to life with the "Pre-show" going through the exit misses most the story. The only concern i would have with going in the main cue is if they are very jumpy it may not be a good idea as you get crampped in a room which then goes pitch black and some other cool stuff.

Buzz lightyear - pretty much the same stlye cart as phantom manor, again a constantly moving ride which they can slow down the convayor, although this cart you have a gun to shoot targets around the ride and no its does not spin fast, you have total control of if the car spins or not.

Crush's coaster sorry cannot help with this one have not rode it yet, looking forward to trying it out in a couple of weeks though.

Armageddon special effects. This is not really a ride more of a walkthrough with a lot of standing and noise oh and a shakey floor which at times does give sudden jolts down although not too much. You first go stand in a room watch a video and listen to a guy basically explaining everything. You then move in the second room, which i would not attempt at all if you are not steady on your feet because of the floor. This room is basically 360 degrees of special effects things going on everywhere around you at all times. And to be honest, if you ended up getting a wheelchair for your gma unless she really wants to go in for a lot of noise and not much to see I would not bother doing it with a wheel chair I have before and there is that many people in there that unless she can stand she wont see a thing. Although using a wheelchair can get you to the middle of the second room where there is a bar that you can hold onto, purely because they move you first to get you out the way. But when i went we took the chair in I was not steady on my feet at all but had the bar to hold on to steady myself so saw a lot more and enjoyed it.

Hope this helps

Thank you soo much for that reply! It's really helped out loads. I've been writing everything down (in my nice Disney notebook) so that i can plan everything better lol. I've pretty much got it worked out about the rides now for who can manage what, lol.
