I am a "person of size" but just call me fat. I'm planning my first trip in years and do have enough time to lose some of this crud, but even in the best of worlds, I'm still gonna be chunky. So I would like to know about the rides. Are they fat friendly?

I can still fit in an airline seat, but sweat it and wear a 26w pant...if that gives you any indiction to size.

I just wonder because I don't want to end up embarrased or wasting time in line just to be told...."uhhhh yeah. No."

I'm most concerned for the water rides, splash mountain, Test Track....things like that. Anyone had any problems?

Not to worry! WDW is very "fat friendly"! I wear a 24/26 and had no problems with anything we rode. I didn't do Space Mountain. Mission Space, Tea cups,Rock n Roller coaster, or TOT.It is best a Test Track, Dinosaur, ect to pull seat belt all the way out before you sit down. It will be easier to get fastened quicker! Have fun and don't worry!

You don't have anything to worry about! I went with my fiancé and his cousin whom plays in the NFL and is 6'7 and 335 lbs. I was very worried about him fitting in the rides and he had no problems. Disney has many guests who are large athletes, (especially after the super bowl) so they are able to accommodate people of various sizes. Some rides were a little tight on leg room but nothing he could not handle. The only thing he thought was hard to get in was Space Mountain. But I thought that ride was hard to get in and out of, and I am a pretty small person!! (It is totally worth it though!!) :smooth: Splash mountain was a little tight too but really for him it was more leg room.

Don't worry about it, and have a wonderful time!!! :flower1:

Not to worry! I was concerened too when I went, but I had no problems on any rides EXCEPT the rollercoaster at Dinoland in Animal Kingdom. Even this ride won't be a problem though if you don't sit right next to someone. Each car holds four riders and I was squished pretty tight next to my niece, but if it had only been her and I on the ride and we left a seat in between us, it would have been fine.

I had no trouble at the Teacups, TOT, Rock N' Roller Coast or any other ride I can think of.

The only ride I was uncomfotable in was Primevel Whirl in AK. The safety bar was in to my stomach and I didn't enjoy that at all. It was just to tight. I wear a mens 44 waist. I can't think of anything alse I couldn't ride. I haven't rode Mission Space yet, so i can't comment on that.

I'm a larger person. At my largest, when I wore a 26W size, I had no problems with the rides. Thanks to WISH, I'm smaller now.

I was a good 26w when we went.

The only problem I encountered was on Test track. I got in and pulled out the seatbelt the whole way but barely got it buckled. But I did!! I think it was made worse because I was in line by myself so I had to ride with a boy that I had never seen before and I was constantly thinking I was crowding him. I think it went ok though. It sure was fun!

Other than that, I just felt a little uncomfortable when I had to ride with one of my children (who are rails!!) and we had a lap bar. The bar would not come close to them because of me, so I just made sure that I only rode with them on rides that it wouldn't matter if the lap bar wasn't close, ex. pooh, snow white, peter pan....rides like that (where you know they won't come out of their seat).

I really worried myself before we went and everything went fine. I shouldn't have worried a bit.

Have fun.

I am a size 28.. and had little problem with anything but walking for miles and miles! I rode space mountain, barnstormer, and splash mountain with no problems.

I am also "Pooh sized" and the only slight problem I had was with a few of the turnstiles (Tough to be a Bug comes to mind) where I had to go through sideways, but that's it. Very comfy on all the rides that I do. Have fun! And buy a big obnoxious, colorful WDW t-shirt. They sell them in all sizes!

When I was pooh-sized (size 26 at my heaviest) I can't think of any rides I had a problem with at Disney. The problem I had was with the turnstyles getting into the parks. I just had to remember to suck it in and turn sideways. I was a bit surprised at how tight they were because no one had ever mentioned them before.

Other than that, I had a great time. The only other size related issue I can think of is the seats on the Disney buses. I'm not sure who they are designed to fit but two regular sized people - NOT!

As Katholyn said, WISH is a great place if you want some encouragement to take off a few before your trip. We would love to have you join us!!!! :)

Size 26w here and no problems with the rides, but almost got stuck :earseek: at the POC turnstyle. I have been dieting so hopfully that won't happen in December(LOL).Susan

I was a mens size 54, and I had very few problems. There was nothing I couldn't ride, but some things were uncomfortable.

Space Mountain - I fit okay, it just requires some grace to get in and out of the car without embarrasing the bejesus out of yourself.

Splash Mountain - same story. There's NO restraint system, so you're golden that way. It really is just getting in and out.

AstroOrbiter - I actually didn't do this until AFTER I'd lost all my weight, but it was a tight fit getting my butt into the seats as a skinny person.

ANYTHING with seatbelts: (Dinosaur, and Test Track are the first ones coming to mind) - the belts fit, just make sure you yank the belt out as far as it will go. Otherwise, you may be scrambling to get it on as the vehicle starts moving. It's scary as anything - and embarrasing if you hold up the vehicle trying to get your belt on.

I can't think of anything else that posed a problem.

You will have a BLAST!!!!!

I know this is not at the parks but I am 6'1" and go about 330lbs and we went to DQ and designed a virtual Space Mountian there and then waited 45 minutes to ride it and when i got into the simulator the saftey harness would not latch. I was told I could not ride it. I've never had any problems at any of the 4 major parks though.

No problems at all and Im about the same size as you. Can't recall anything being uncomfy at all. And i've ridden just about everything.

I'm a size 30 short and fat and I had anxiety dreams for months and in fact cancelled a trip before I actually made it there but I'm so glad I went. I had no real problems with the rides except Star Tours and some of the shows. The problem is the turnstiles they can be tight. Go, have fun and have a great time.

If you have problems with the turnstiles, just use the wheekchair access door. They don't care! :)

I know that doesn't help you now Alaska Catdog, but for anyone else concerned! :)

I have been to WDW three times now and have ridden every ride except Space Mtn. and RNR. I am a female size 30/32 clothing and weigh about 325 pounds. I'm 5'10 and do not have problems moving around or getting up and down. I carry most of my weight in my hips and stomach, but have pretty broad shoulders. Are any of you about my size and if so have you had any problems with these two rides? I've never had a problem on any of the rides at Disney, but could not ride the rollercoasters at IOA. Here are my measurements if that helps 58" hips, 60" waist, 56" chest. I know alot of people have said they have not had a problem, but even people who wear the same size clothes can be built differently and not have the same experience. I would love to ride these two rides with my family, but am very worried about the embarassment of not fitting. Thank you in advance for your help.

:wave2: Hi ya

I'm new to this board, this is my first post!

I have found a great website where people talk about their experiences on the rides and how they fit etc. Apparently Rock and Roll roller coaster is very comfortable. One woman who was over 300lbs said she couldn't imagine someone who weighed 400lbs not being able to go on it.

They also have a section of photos of most of the rides at WDW and their seats which helps. I can't post a link yet as I haven't been on the board long enough but its at the allearsnet website, a few people on here have links to it in their posts.

I have never been to WDW and have booked a trip for September with my husband (he's also a newbie!). We live in London England and are so excited about this! I've been quite anxious about rides and fitting. I'm the same weight as you but different measurements, bust 48, waist 47, hips 63. I'm hoping to lose 4 inches off my hips before September but realistically this might not happen! My worry is definitely those pesky seatbelts!

These websites are great though for helping to alleviate fears. Will you be going again soon?

Take care,

Eloise

Hi Booknut,

Thanks for your response! We are going again from Sept. 24 - Oct. 1st :cool1: and we are so excited. We are doing the free dining plan and staying at Pop Century. When are you going in Sept. If you have any questions or concerns about any of the rides, feel free to ask. I have ridden all of them except Space mountain, RNR, Test Track, and Primevil Whirl at Animal Kingdom (it wasn't open the last time I was there). I didn't have any problems on any of the other rides. As far as the seatbelts go just do as everyone has said and pull it all the way out and locate the clip before you set down and you should not have any problems.

I hope you have a wonderful first time vacation to the wonderful Walt Disney Resort. Just beware because you will get addicted :wave2:
