Not a big fan of thrill rides- will not go on BTM, SM, etc- can manage POTC, Buzz Lightyear and all the rides on Fantasyland!

What are the rides to aviod at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure?

Any and all info appreciated!

Avoid the Hulk, Dueling Dragons, and Dudley's Ripsaw Falls. You might be able to handle Jurassic Park River Ride.

as one fraidy cat to another, there is NO WAY I would ride the Jurassic Park ride. I watched the drop. It is 80 feet!! No way. I had plenty to do at both parks without riding any roller coasters or water rides. I rode Men in Black over and over and loved Spiderman!

Just close your eyes and give the rides a try. I am also not big on some rides, will not do coasters, but when on vacation I want to get my money's worth and I went on all the rides, except the coasters. The drops are over so fast you don't even realize how far you have dropped. In fact it is kind of a neat feeling, especially when you are lifted off your seat!

Generally, Universal and IOA are thrill ride type parks. However, both are lots of fun to experience even if you aren't one to hop on all the rides. At Universal there's plenty of shows and street entertainment to enjoy. Do try:
Jimmy Neutron
ET
Men In Black (surprisingly tame!)

You may not get excited about any of the rides at Islands of Adventure. By my standards, they're all thrill rides. However, this is a very cool park to simply look at. If you're staying on-site, don't miss taking a stroll through there even if you don't ride anything.

I find both parks amazing!

Rides I would avoid at Universal:

Back to the future - only because it makes me ill (sometimes)

Rides I would avoid at IOA:

Hulk
Dueling Dragons
Dr Doom Fearfall
Dudley Do-rights Ripsaw Falls

I would go on JP River Adventure its really a great ride!!

* Just my opinion of rides that I avoid.

ditto the above post. Those are my choices exactly.

A little story about Jurassic Park. In the spring DS,14, and I took two other moms and their kids to Universal and HRH sto stay for 6 days. The first day we went on lots of things including JP. Well, the one mom didn't like drops very much on anything. The second day we went on JP again and half way through the ride she said, "there isn't a drop on this ride is there?" She had totally forgotten about it, even though you can plainly see it from the outside. We all told her no but when we got to the drop the kids on either side of her grabbed her arms and raised them over her head. She couldn't believe that she had forgotten the drop.

By the end of the vacation we had her riding all the rides (even the coasters) with here eyes wide open and arms in the air voluntarily. The trick was making sure that she always watched what was going on in front of her so there were no surprises (that also meant being as close to the front as possible). She can't wait to go back next year and bring her DH and show him how brave she is!
