Rides for elderly parent

I was under the impression that rides like Haunted Mansion and Under the Sea do stop the moving walkway to let people on if needed!!

supposed to but doesnt always happen that way

In 2019,, I was on one of the boat rides (I think Navi) and the boat ahead of us had a person having trouble getting out of the boat. As the person continued to try to get out, the CM came over with some sort of cane looking thing but just at that moment, the person got out of the ride.

Anyone have any information on the cane thing? That was the only time I've seen any extra gadget to help someone out of a boat.

We are also at the stage of getting out of boats is being an issue. DH no longer does splash or jungle.
