Rides during the fireworks show.....

I am spending my afternoon on Ridemax!

Anyway, got some questions for the lovely DL experts out there!

1) What rides are CLOSED during fireworks? What time do they typically close before the show and then re-open after the show?

2) Is TT open during the fireworks?

3) We are going mid-week in August, what rides in Tomorrowland, FL, TT areas...will probably see a dip in ridership during the fireworks?

4) Will it be insane trying to walk down Main Street into TL before the fireworks? Do they keep a path open so people can move along? Trying to think about leaving DCA and walking down Main St. into Tomorrowland.

5) Is there a dip in the Nemo line during the fireworks, or am I still better off waiting to close to park closing to get in line?

As always, thanks for your insight!

ToonTown closes well before the fireworks. I don't even think they are open at dusk.

I'm pretty sure Peter Pan is closed during the fireworks, but I've read that Storybookland boats are a good place to watch the fireworks from.

I've read that Astro Orbiter is also a good place to watch (though you won't be on it the entire time), as is Matterhorn.

And there ends my mainly 3rd hand knowledge of all of this.

Oh, and they do have CMs guiding you on where to go and how to go down Main Street before the fireworks (great time to maybe see famous cast member Maynard), and it will likely be crowded, but you can walk down there. Stick to the side you want to go to, IMO...if you want to go towards Tomorrowland, start and stick to the right. I don't think you can even get into FL through the castle as they get closer to fireworks time so I figure the people riding storybookland are coming from Tomorrowland...

Peter Pan, Toad, Snow White and Pinocchio are closed during fireworks. I believe the carousel is also closed. They put up a large rope across half of Fantasyland to block of those rides.

This past Sunday night I watched the DEP from Golden Dreams and then headed to DL and went right to Tomorrowland just before the fireworks were scheduled to begin. They keep a path into TL open and moving with traffic before and during fireworks. I was able to get on Space and as I exited they were going off overhead. As we passed Nemo, the line looked to be about 30-45 min long. We went around the Matterhorn and through FL to get to BTMRR and then got a spot for F! for the 10:30 show. Personally, I would wait until park closing to do the Nemo wait, as it would probably be shorter.

HTH.

Somebody else may have to correct me on this . . .

I think the railroad closes during fireworks. However, if you are willing to leave DCA a little early, that would be a nice way to get to Tomorrowland. That is if you would like a little rest for tired feet. It would probably take you longer by train, but it wouldn't be as crowded as going "against the flow" on Main Street.

If you did this, I'd suggest hopping the train on Main Street about 20-30 minutes before you want to be in Tomorrowland.

I swear i have seen the storybook closed during fireworks. have sat on the teacups and watched some fireworks. fun experience to ride during the actual fireworks is nemo. . . they literally will tell you that the explosions you are hearing are the fireworks. .. but it is pretty!

i do not think tomorrowland really quiets except maybe buzz and star wars. . we have walked right on pirates, but that was when they were not doing fantasmic at that period of time. . . had a friend who used to be a cm, tt closes because a lot of the shells land right there, so not a place you want to be. . .

I actually watched the fireworks this past Monday while on Storybook Canal Boats and have photos to prove it. I asked the CM at the exit if they ever close during fireworks, and she said that they generally do not. They will stop the boats in the canal during the show for the duration since the skippers cannot be heard over the fireworks noise. I was so happy that I got to see this for myself because I had read conflicting stories on the Disboards in the past about whether or not this ride remains open during RDCT.

We rode Casey Jr twice during the fireworks on Friday night. It was kind of nice to be between the two sets of fireworks (from the castle and then further beyond CJ). Yes, the Storybook ride was open and the boats just stopped to watch the fireworks. Most of the rest of fantasyland was closed. A rope stretches from Toad to the Carousel to block the area, and the area reopens about 10-15 minutes after the fireworks. There was already a long line for Toad and Peter Pan waiting behind the rope at the end of the fireworks. Not sure how they directed the lines into their proper places when the rides reopened. We rode Alice right after it reopened. They had to reset the ride, so it took another 15 minutes probably for them to get everything up and running again for passengers after it reopened.

a couple of years back, my parents and I watched the fireworks while on Thunder Mountain Railroad. We managed to see the finale just as the train reached the top part of the ride just before it dips to the right on the way down.

Also, I'm not exactly sure, but I think DCA is closed by the time the fireworks start.

New Questions...

Imagine an early August weekday night.... the fireworks are going off....and there are people in their positions for Fantasmic...

How long might the stand-by line be at Big Thunder RR be during this time frame?

and...
what time do u think FPs to this ride will run out on a day like that....

We're only going to have 1 1/2 days for DL so we plan on doing rides during evening parades and fireworks. Hoping for some short or nonexistent lines duing those times!! Maybe we'll even get a peek at the fireworks from Thunder Mountain RR or Splash Mountain.
