I've been having feet issues recently and at the moment I can only wear flip flop style shoes as they are open (better support but that style). Likewise my daughter just got a new pair of Birkenstocks that she'll want to wear at the parks.

My question is...what rides do we need to look out for with these this type of shoes? For example, I know that we would need to remove the shoes for Soarin. Any others?

I'm a die-hard FitFlop wearer and they are the best shoes for my feet all day in the parks. The only rides I take off my shoes for are Soarin', Silly Symphony Swings, and Jumping Jellyfish. I put them in the bag under my seat on Soarin'. I leave my shoes on the platform for the swings. I think there's a bag under the seat for Jumping Jellyfish, it's been a while. I haven't had any other issues.

Have fun!

The only other one I can think of is Silly Symphony Swings. I live in Flip Flops at the parks...they're the most comfortable shoes I have!

Edit...posted same time as previous post. yes...forgot Jellyfish!

Yeah The only ones that I foresee being a problem are the dangling feet rides that have been listed already..

Thank you. I feel better than about having to wear shoes without straps.

mich311e, I've heard of FitFlops. I did even try them on but the store didn't have my size so didn't purchase. The footbed did seem comfy though.

Same, exactly!

I wear my flip flops and FitFlops on every ride. I've never had them fall off even on Soarin', Jumping Jellyfish, or Silly Symphony Swings.

I always wear the kind that fit more snug and don't have the toe divider. I never take them off for soarin or any of the other rides. I think between them fitting so well and my feet swelling from walking/standing all day, they aren't going to randomly fall off.

Have you tried sliders? Something like this:

I have foot problems such as plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis. FitFlops help me sooo much!

I bet mine would stay on but I'm clumsy so I don't want to take any chances. :smooth:

My daughter wore flip flops most of our last trip - she broke one pair on arrival, lost one when we were on Forbidden Journey at Universal Studios, and eventually got a new Minnie Mouse pair that have lasted her over a year! She did have one drop off on Soarin' but we were able to retrieve it!!

Vionics?
I live in them year round. Prefer the non sueded footbed... since i wear them like 10-12 hours a day, the suede bottom can cause irritation.
Cradles heel, has arch, considered orthotic but soooo many colors and styles to choose from... I too like the thong style ..
Enjoy ur visit with comfy feet..
I agree with others... soar n is my only removal I recall.

Thank you...I've heard of the FitFlops and also Vionics. Need to try them on to see if they work. I don't know my issue at the moment (getitng tested) but seems nerve related with pain at little toe and side so need to keep those areas open.

Good to know most rides are ok (and we're hitting Universal so good to know about Forbidden Journey too).

I love and live in Teva's Olawahu flip flops. They don't come off very easy at all and I never take them off for rides. They are SO comfortable though if anyone is looking to try something new.

My girls will be very happy to know that they can ride Soarin and the Swings barefoot and have flipflops/slides on the other rides. My youngest did most of Universal Orlando barefoot, but I understand that Disney requires footwear most of the time.

I actually tried 2 pairs of Tevas from recommendations on here. They are very comfy on the bottom (but unfortunately because of the strap don't work for me...but may try and keep one of them for when my foot calms down). Didn't try the flip flop version.
