Rider switch - is this possible

Can't remember if this is allowed:

4 adults with 3 children travelling. One child is too small for the headliners. Can 2 adults sit out with the baby and then go on the ride when the other 2 adults return with the other children?

To be clear - nobody is riding twice. We just want to prevent one adult from having to wait alone with the baby and consequently riding alone afterward.

Disney guests - Wife + husband + 2 children + 1 baby

We want to get in the line together. At the ride, with different combos depending on the circumstances, have two adults board with two of the children and have two adults wait with the baby.

When party one finishes, we want party two - consisting of the two waiting adults to enter the ride.

That's what the baby swap is used for-it allows 3 people to go back on the ride. Take the little one up to the entrance, ask for the baby swap pass, first set of riders gets in line. When they come out, or really anytime prior to the passes expiration, the next set of riders get to go through the fast pass line.

Just ask as you are going on to the ride for rider swap, they give you a paper ticket which allows 3 people (really any three) to ride again using the fastpass lane.

Note there are lines that will not allow those who are not tall enough to ride in line

If someone in your group is not tall enough to ride they can't even go in the lines. So those folks will have to wait outside the lines.

If so I think you need to reverse it. 2 adults and 2 kids ride then hand the baby swap to the other 2 adults when you get off. Reason is while I think the return is supposed to be only 2 people, they often let 3 ... but you are talking about 4. If you do the reverse you don't risk any issues.

You approach the CMs at the line, show them the baby and tell them you want to do Child Swap. They will give you the lanyard/ticket they use at that ride. Now by time you get off the ride, join the group and give them the pass to return, you may be getting a new CM, so don't depend on CM 1 telling you 4 are fine, then CM 2 tells you otherwise. Since Disney has operated in the grey here .... I would do what you can to insure there are no issues.

You didn't say that the whole group would get in line together. And anyway, the child who's too small wouldn't be allowed in the line at all.

While at universal there are rider swap rooms in the line at Disney those too short to ride cannot enter the line as stated above.

Your whole group will approach the line and ask for a rider swap pass as there is a too small child. 2 adults and 2 big enough kids get in line and ride (you may be given the swap pass at the entrance to the line or be given a lanyard to swap later in the line for the paper swap pass). After the ride pass the swap pass to the other 2 adults and they can ride then or any time until the end of the current month when the pass expires.

You didn't say that the whole group would get in line together. And anyway, the child who's too small wouldn't be allowed in the line at all.

It's been years but I thought they measured at the end of the queue just before boarding for some of the attractions. For some reason, Space Mt. sticks as a place that switched off right at the end before boarding.

My "baby" is almost 24 so it has been a long time since I cared about this.

They measure both at the beginning and end of the queue. I assume they measure at the beginning so that a child won't spend all that time waiting in line only to find out they can't ride, but then they do it at the end as well in case a child somehow bypassed the first measuring stick (either accidentally or on purpose).

1. You all go up to the queue to prove that there is a baby who can't ride.
2. Adults waiting with the baby DO NOT GET IN LINE. You can go ride something else, sit in the shade with a snack, go meet Mickey. Whatever you want.
3. They give the first set a riders a ticket that is good for the FP line for up to 3 people to go through after the first group rides. (sometimes this ticket is given at the start of the queue, sometimes it is given right before they get on the ride)
4. Group 2 (up to 3 people) take the ticket to the FP line and ride. Note this does not have to be immediately. The ticket is good all day, and sometimes they are good for several days. (check the expiration)

As noted - what you propose is fine. Note that if the person waiting with the child doesn't mind WAITING alone, you can allow the other 2 kids to ride twice since the pass will be good for 3 people. Absolutely permitted to do that. (You can also have the two adults with any other 3rd but since you mention 2 kids - might cause fights to bring only one!)

This will work, but keep in mind that the people waiting with the baby will not be allowed in the line. You cannot wait in line as a group and then switch off at the ride itself.

Instead of doing what you propose, though, I would have one person wait with the baby and have everyone e ride, then when you switch, the adult who originally waited with the baby can take both kids with them and they get to ride twice.

Also remember that the adult(s) waiting with the baby don't have to just sit there and wait -- they can take the baby on another ride or something.

So if the kids are 4 and 5, they would need another adult with them. Depends on what the CM considers "together" BTW - it could be the seat in front is OK, but it might not be.
