Rider switch at rope drop/Genie+

How does rider switch work with rope dropping? We have an infant and if we do ROTR would we all have to wait in the queue until we hit the ride enterance and see a CM with an iPad?

Is the RS valid immediately and valid all day (if we get one around noon/break time).

there will be a CM near the entrance to the attraction. Tell them you want to ride switch.
They usually give you an hour or two hour return window.

WDW rider switch changed to immediately active and valid all day. You do have to use it up to get another.

We will have to make sure we don’t do RS around breaks/meals.

FYI... I never saw a DL CM actually follow the return time given.

It’s intended for the second party to ride immediately after the first party, usually about an hour or less depending on the ride. Screen shot the RS in case something happens (ride breaks down, etc).

That’s the problem. We’ve been stuck at ROTR for 2 hours using a VQ in the past (at WDW). There was no announcement so we were left in the dark and kept thinking it’s going to start up (every few mins line would move deceptively-no one exiting). We had to hunt down a CM to fix the rider switch to anytime (back then there was a time limit; always check the app as the first party who scanned in had their passes change automatically on MDE, but the RS did not). We had to use our RS after lunch.
