Rider switch and FP+

It is me, DH, DS8, DS6, and DS1 going. Can I get a FP+ for Splash Mountain at say 1:00 for DH, DS8, and DS6 and then book a FP+ for myself at 1:00 for Peter Pan to ride with the baby and still be able to do rider switch on Splash? Do we all have to have a FP+ booked for Splash or will it work like it did for us at Disneyland and I only needed fastpasses for the first people riding?

Last year in April (still had legacy FP only) we did that. The CM at one ride (SM) asked me if I had an FP. When I replied that I didn't he gave us a child swap (no one else asked). Im hoping the same applies this year. I plan to ride buzz with our DS2 using a fp+ while DH takes the older 4 on space mountain using their own FP+. I figure we will all walk up together, get the child swap then separate so me and the baby dont just sit around for 30 mins.

I want to know are my 12 yr olds supposed to be on my reserved FP? I thought each adult was good for 3 kids? Is it supposed to be on their bands as well?

I called and according to the CM I got everyone needs to have the Fastpass to get the rider switch. It sounds like the reality is that it varies from cast member to cast member. Ugh! Oh well, guess I better plan on the safe side
