Rider Swap Question

We've used Rider Swap in the past, but only when we have had fastpasses in hand. Can you use rider swap if someone goes through the regular line? Say we go right to Soarin and ride standby, but I wait with my DD3 while DH and DD7 ride with their cousins. Can I get the kid swap when they go to the line to ride it or do I need a Fastpass to make this work?

And how many can return with the person who does the swap? I can never remember this and thought I saw it changed?

Trying to further figure out our tour plans for a trip that starts in SEVEN DAY!! Ahhh!!!

TIA!!

Yes you can get a rider swap for either the FP or standby line. You will have to go up with them when they get in line just like with the FP line and they will give you a rider swap. The pass is good for up to 3 people.:thumbsup2

Perfect. That's what I thought, but got myself all confused. Not sure why we only used it with fastpasses before?!?!:confused3

Thanks!

I've personally never had a problem using fastpass and rider swap together but there have been a number anecdotes on here of people saying the CM only gave the pass when someone goes to the standby line (on the theory that if you have fastpasses you don't need the swap pass). I think that reasoning however doesn't hold up anymore as I can easily see a situation where by the time the first set of riders is off the ride the fastpass time has expired).

Also - curious to hear anyone who's used these in the last week or two. Always has been for up to 3 people but new description on the Disney website now says that the rider switch pass is good for only two riders. Not sure if that's a mistake or a sign of an upcoming change.

We used it 6/1-6/8 and every single one of the passes said good for 3 people.

Sidenote--lots of confusion from the CM's about this and it was our first time using it. Sometimes they didn't care if the other party was already in line. Sometimes they wanted to see the other party. I really didn't/still don't completely understand the rules. The CM at Splash was particularly confused and changed his mind twice before finally giving us a pass.

In the cases I remember, the CM would trade one Fastpass for the RS pass. Thus no expiration - and you could still bring two guests. Net win still, but not as much. But those were extremely rare.

The description on how it actually works is for the most part wrong as well, so I wouldn't put too much into the accuracy of the rest... :)

We used RS with FPs all last week with no trouble. CMs were telling people you could have up to three riding on one RS.

So, proof that the website content maintainers are still at their usual quality. :)

Most of the prior descriptions were so vague - the fact that they revised the description it with such specificity and a definitive list of rides was what was making me wonder whether this was a signal of an upcoming change. But sounds like nothing has changed yet at least.

We just got back, had no trouble using rider swap on either Fastpass lines or standby, we rode with 3 (sometimes a fourth who was a toddler) but one of the 3 was our 3 year old so maybe they assumed she was under 3.
We did always have to have the non riders with us at the start to get the rider swap card.
