Ride wimp: which coaster first??

I hate coasters and am not a fan of amusement rides in general. But IIRC, BTMRR is pretty tame. This is the perfect place to start.

A bit off-topic, but I had a scary time on Hershey Park's log ride. It had a bench running down the middle, no seat belts, just a bar on each side to hold onto. My whole family rode this together. I rode under duress. It was one of the scariest experiences of my life, but not for reasons you might think.

We had it set up, me in front, followed by my little guy, who was maybe 3 or 4, with dh behind him, holding him, and the rest of our party behind them. Well right before the ride started, my little guy climbed into MY lap! Talk about a ride of terror. I held on with one hand, held him around the waist with the other, and had him between my legs in a vice grip. The entire time, I was envisioning him flying out of my arms, crashing to the ground below. I was never more relieved to have a ride end.:faint:

Ohhh I meant to add that I'm going to try Space Mountain this trip! I think...

I'd go with RnR, as it's the smoothest of the bunch. Both SM and BTMRR are very jerky. which can add to the anxiety and perceived intensity. :firefight

I'm not a wild ride type person because of drops also. The only thing I've never been on at Disney is ToT (and I never will). Most of the rides there are really not bad at all. I was terrified at the thought of EE the first time and it was no where near what I thought it would be. I have been on some coasters that were pretty tough but Disney is really not bad at all.

BTMRR first then Space Mountain. My husband hates Roller Coasters, but loves BRMRR and Space Mountain is ok to him.

I preferred it when I couldn't see the tracks, but with safety they have to have some light at all times now and it's easy to see where we're going.

Confused... I have not read this/cannot find any info about this anywhere. Can anyone confirm this? I was happy when they made Space darker after the refurb...

I've always been fearless when it comes to going on coasters but I would defiantly choose Big Thunder First it's not in the dark, less jerky, and its a great ride. I really enjoy Space Mountain too but when you ride that make sure you get a spot near the front (I rode in the last car the last time I rode on it and got some whiplash) both are really fun rides hope you enjoy!

I am with OP. I hate drops. I hate the small drops on POTC and although I do Splash Mtn once a year for DS and DD, I hate it. ToT-there is not enough alcohol in all of WDW to get me to go on that!:rotfl2: But, I have done all of the WDW coasters and don't have a problem with any of them. There are some drops on them, but nothing on any of them that makes you have "air time". I never have felt weightless or like I am coming out of my seat. (I can't stand it when a regular elevator drops too quickly like WL lol) I will say that BTMRR and Space Mtn are probably the most tame. Space Mtn is just scary because it is in the dark. I have been inside of it with the lights on (riding People Mover) and if you could see it with the lights on, you would know that it is not scary. I have even been on RnR and didn't have a problem with that and it will flip you upside down. EE looks like it has a pretty big drop, but you start to twist at the end so it really doesn't feel like too much of a drop.

Space Mountain....went on it in 2007 and never again, I don't know why but it really felt like holding onto that bar was all that was keeping me in, really didn't enjoy it. Expedition Everest is amazing and not "that bad", and I dont like coasters, it's more fun than anything. Love the view :cool1:

I know it's not "coaster" but I'm interested in going on Dinosaur and have read varying things on its roughness. Dark rides dont bother me, I love Haunted Mansion and Pirates and stuff, just wondering how "bad" it shakes you up. Anyone care to share experiences ?

One of the reason I fell in love with WDW when I went the first time is it's somewhere that we can all go on nearly everything. :dance3:

Barnstormer

Space IMO
Because its dark and goes down on a circle motion more then a drop you can't see it and get mentally scared nor do you really have a true drop to scare you
Plus it's much easier to hold on then thunder
Thunder will def toss you sideways much more and he safety rail doesn't seem like it will keep you in the seat

I hate drops. Hate them! Even that little drop in Pirates makes me cringe when I come up to it. It took a lot to get me on Barnstormer and Flight of the Hippogriff.

But after reading someone's confession of a ride wimp about Space Mountain, I have decided I need to at least try one of the big kid coasters! I have been looking at YouTube videos, and they don't look as bad as I picture them.

So, should I try Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain first? They both appear to not have any really scary drops. I can do fast, I can do spins, I just can not do drops.

Uh... sadly, Space and Big Thunder have a *lot* of dips and sharp turns and are really rough. Rough enough to rattle my fillings! They also feel really long.
