Just had to share. My name is Jennifer, and I am (or rather, used to be!) a card-carrying ride weinie. I don't get motion sickness but I am extraordinarily motion sensitive (I'm one of those people who knows better but would swear that the theaters in Epcot with 360 degree movies ARE moving) and have a life-long history of HATING rides (I'd get all tense and fearful and sweat bullets in the queue -- yes, even for the Barnstormer! -- then curse myself for even trying). The other day I panicked because I thought somehow I'd lost control of my parked car -- turns out the car next to me pulled out and I thought MY car was moving. You get the idea.

Well, last year DS begged me to ride Splash Mountain because of the whole REST of the ride -- I did, and loved it -- I'd just take a deep breath and close my eyes and relax my tensed muscles before the drop. He got me on Test Track and I figured that was a one-time-only.

So last week on our annual trek, I tried Test Track again and for some reason was able to let go of the conviction that I would die in a fiery crash -- and loved it! Rode it a coupla three times! Tried the Mild Mission Space and loved it (kept my eyes open all the time the first time thru -- another personal record for me!). So DH and DS talk me into BTMRR. I decided NOT to worry in the line (believed I WOULD survive the experience) and by the day we left (kid you not) I was riding with no hands (most of the time)! And I even tried Space Mountain (although that one stays on the did-it-once list -- too much intense back and forth, side to side motion so that I did feel queazy). Even made it down the Splash drop with my eyes open (NEVER thought I'd be able to do that).

So the point to this long story is that it IS possible, even at the ripe old age of 44.8, to conquer ride fear and BOY, is it FUN not to have to wait on the sidelines while everyone else rides....

glad you conquered your fear. now you'll really enjoy the attractions. oh wait, now that means one more person in front of me on line lol. sure you wouldn't want to sit on the sidelines again :)

Congratulations! I too am a ride weenie. Can you describe BTMRR to me in Weenie terms and full blown description of what it feels like. I really would like to do the runaway train for the experience, I lived out west and I want to see the theming, so a little heads up might help . Thanks!
Marie
