Hi everybody,
I've got yet another question...are you surprised...lol!

We are leaving next Saturday!! The cruise portion of the trip is 4 nights (Sat-Wed). Our ship arrives at San Pedro Pier @ 7:00am on Wednesday morning.
We have an exclusive van booked through Supershuttle. I'm not sure how long disembarking a criuse ship takes...or how long the drive is from San Pedro Pier to Anaheim...BUT, I'm hoping we can get to the gates *somewhere* near opening at 10:00am (am I dreaming?)

First- Will Best Western Anaheim Inn allow us to check in sooo early? If not, will they let us store our luggage, so we can go right to the park?

Second- What would you suggest, ride sequence-wise...for this first day (Wednesday the 19th) ?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

:goodvibes :wizard:  I'm SOOO excited, I can barely breathe!!! :wizard: :goodvibes

Throwing in as a side note: The kids know NOTHING of the DL part of this trip...hoping they'll not figure it out until we walk up to the gates!!!

Don't know about BW Anaheim Inn. I have stayed at the BWPPI just a few hotels away and have been able to get early check-in but not that early. You should call them.

Regarding touring, it is hard to say, as it depends on your priorities - age of kids, thrill rides, plans to park hop, etc.

Your best answer you can generated yourself using RideMax (for about $15). With RM you can generate your own ride order.

Crowds will likely be fairly mild and ride order will not be that important. In general the Fantasyland rides are best to do first, especially PP. And do TT early as well.

Kind of annoyed with my travel agent right now!

I wanted to double check our reservations at the hotel, just to make sure, you know?
Well, I called (BW Reservations), and they told me they do not have our reservation, and that they need my confirmation number. The voucher given to me by the travel agent does not have a confirmation number on it, so I called TA, and asked for conf. #. She called Western Vacations...and they told her to reassure me that we are indeed booked if we have the voucher. But they can't give me a confirmation number!!! So I'm supposed to just trust them??? I'm nervous about that setup!

Sorry for the vent!

Look forward to more replies :)

Famoghrahm are you a Brindlewebber? I thought I recognized the name.....

Agreed, here is what I'd need to give you a tentative touring plan:
1. Ages of kids
2. Willingness to experience all attractions
3. How many days you will be spending at the parks (type of ticket, park hopping, etc.)
4. Any favorite rides

But anyways, arriving at 10 or later, I'd start with the left side of the park (Adventureland, Critter Country, NOS, Frontierland) because there are ZERO low capacity rides over there (and Tomorrowland/Fantasyland get crowded earlier). Grab a FP for Splash or Indy and enjoy Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Big Thunder, Jungle Cruise, Pirate's Lair and eat lunch. That's a start. Then maybe make your way over to the other side and grab some FPs over there for maybe Space.

Hey DLR29,
Thanks for helping me out :)

Here's answers to your questions:

1. Ages of kids DS is 9 DD is 6
2. Willingness to experience all attractions Definitely! Unless it's just too much for the kids, we really want to do everything. Not too worried about characters, or many shows aside from RDCT, Jedi TA, maybe a couple of others.3. How many days you will be spending at the parks (type of ticket, park hopping, etc.) 3 day parkhoppers Wed, Thur Fri
4. Any favorite rides Well...I haven't been to DL since I was 11 in 1989 (about a week before the big earthquake that year) And hubby...it's been about the same amount of time. The kids have never been, and it will be one of their biggest dreams come true!!! Fave's that I can remember (barely) were POTC, Matterhorn, SM. I think it will allll be our favourite!!

Do these answers help at all?

Thanks SO much!

:rotfl: Small World :rotfl: Pretty funny!! I tried to PM you but it wouldn't allow me, I guess I'm too new to this board. (1 day)
I'm not a rescue but have helped out a few and adopted my last fur baby from a/c.
Stay away from the shelters down there. I see they have many beautiful, small, desperate dogs. You'l end up with a stow away!!
Hope you enjoy your trip. Lolipop

Since you are arriving on a mid-September Wednesday and have 3 days in the parks, I agree with HydroGuy: the ride order is not that crucial.

If you get to the gates fairly close to opening, you might as well head straight down Main Street to Fantasyland. The lines shouldn't be that bad in the morning (it's a non-EE day) and local AP holders won't show up until after school that afternoon. After Fantasyland, Toontown would be the logical choice, though you might want to check on Nemo first. The lines there are becoming more manageable - especially in the early part of the afternoon.

If, however, you arrive considerably later and don't like the looks of things in Fantasyland, you can easily head over to New Orleans Square for POTC and Pirate's Lair -- (the Mansion will still be closed that day) -- and then hit Splash and Winnie-the-Pooh back in Critter Country.

But, seriously, don't stress about the order too much. You should have ample time to do everything you'd like. Two more suggestions: 1. See the Parade on your first day if possible. You will then have that time "free" on subsequent days to go on rides or do other things. 2. On Friday morning, get to the Haunted Mansion early. It will be opening day for the Holiday Overlay and, based on my experience there last year, will get increasingly crowded throughout the day.

Enjoy your trip!!! :wizard:

Hi again! :goodvibes Be sure to check the scedules for the parades and other entertainment shows. Friday may be the best day for those depending on park closure times. The electrical parade in Cal. Adventure is quite something to see....

Ok, for the first day, here's what I'd do:

Arrival at 11
Unless you're really tied into going to DL first, I'd go to DCA because DL will have been already open for a few hours and will have people in it. DCA will just be opening. DCA should be very empty and you should be able to do most things by early evening. I suggest riding Soarin first thing. You will all enjoy that. Then ride Grizzly River Run if it's warm enough. Tour the Hollywood Pictures Backlot (Tower of Terror is a little scary, but don't miss Monster's Inc., Turtle Talk in the Animation building, and MuppetVision is very good).

In the afternoon, visit Paradise Pier. The older one might want to ride California Screamin, but the younger might not be tall enough, so she can ride the carousel nearby, or you can take her over to A Bug's Land to ride some of the kiddy rides there. Other than California Screamin, I dont' think there are any "must sees" in Paradise Pier. Basically a bunch of carnival rides with different themes.

Once you are done there, head over to DL and explore Adventureland, NOS, and maybe Critter Country. Get a FP for maybe Indy or Splash. Pirates, Pirate's Lair, Jungle Cruise, and Winnie-the-Pooh should have VERY short lines if any at all. Finish the day with either RDCT or Fantasmic! I highly recommend seeing this. Especially with kids. It's AMAZING!

If you arrive before 11, I'd say go to DL first. It won't be that crowded and you can knock off some long line rides early such as Space, Autopia, Matterhorn, Peter Pan, Alice.

For the other days, see what you want. Mornings I suggest Nemo, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland in that order. You're lucky that HMH is opening on Friday. It is very well done and you won't want to miss it.

Rides closed during your visit: HM (first 2 days), Casey Jr. Circus Train, Storybookland Canal Boats. Also don't forget that you have EE on Thursday which gets you into the park at 9 instead of 10 to ride Fantasyland and select Tomorrowland rides early (Space, Buzz, Astro Orbitor, Nemo)

Wow!

Thanks SO much for putting such effort into this! I really appreciate it :)
Looks great, I feel much better prepared!

Lolipop: I'm not a rescue either, but I sure have learned a lot!. I'll definitely not be going to any shelters down there!

thanks all,

I agree with everything that DLR states above.

The only thing i would add, is that if your family is like my family, you might want to step into DL when you arrive at 11ish.

Take a few pics on Main St. for a couple of minutes (while a runner picks up FPs at SM or Indy) & then reverse back over to DCA (a 100 yard stroll) & start your day at DCA as DLR recommends.

(allows you to properly say hello to Walt's park for a couple of minutes & having a FPs for later is always good. :thumbsup2 )

Have a great time. :yay:
