Where do I find what rides are scheduled to not be working for a specific time period? I want to book a vacation in September, but my son wants to make sure that The Haunted Mansion isn't down for any reason - including changing for Nightmare before Christmas. Thanks!

When in Sept. Is your trip? Haunted Mansion will be closed likely immediately after Labor Day and open on Sept. 16 with the holiday overlay.

When you are on the DL site, the calendar goes out for 90 days, and you click on the day and at it tells you the different show times and at the bottom it tells you what is closed for refurb.

Hope this helps!

I think you mean 60 days and mistyped 90.

Anway like sonny Jane said HM will be down for that time for the holiday overlay. Space will go down for almost a week for it's overlay. There will probably be another rehab or two in there also as they take advantage of the post labor day offseason. While some rehabs are know a couple months out, mechanical reasons can rush a rehab with little notice. Check a week before you leave and be prepared for those last minute ordeals.

As someone whose favorite attraction is in fact The Haunted Mansion, I can tell you it is usually under refurb (to move to that tacky, horrible holiday version) in September. In fact, the attraction now spends less than half the year (refurb before, winter season as the overlay, refurb after) as the original attraction, all because of that stupid overlay.

That's not actually true. Haunted Mansion is open February-August in its traditional form. That's 7 months, so that means it does still spend more than half the year not in the holiday version or closed down for overlay work. The overlay occurs in September. Last year, HM closed down before Labor Day weekend and reopened as Haunted Mansion Holiday around the middle of September. It went down for the overlay to be removed right after the holiday season ended. I believe it reopened in late January.

Then they must have tightened their refub times - the last several times I had a DLR vacation, it reopened from refurb in early March and went down the day after Labor Day.

I suppose we should at least be thankful for that. Still can't stand the holiday version, it's tacky and unnecessary.

I am not sure it's good to change Haunted Mansion for Halloween because it's a Halloween ride already! But I can understand changing it for Christmas. I think it stays in holiday form a little too long. Also, it is kind of tacky... I wish they would update it a bit or something.

Thanks everyone for the links and information. I wish the information went out a bit farther as it seems to stop in August.

I guess I have to decide now whether to do DL in September or add a few days to our cruise in April so we can see the Original Haunted Mansion. I'm really not a fan of the holiday theme. :sad2:

When we were there this year it opened the week before MLK day weekend in January.

MousePlanet is reporting that HM will be closed for installation of the overlay from August 29-September 15. I have not yet seen official Disney confirmation of these dates, but they match up well with last years dates and this year's opening day of Halloween season.

I so hope that is correct. This will be my daughter's first trip to Disneyland, so she has never seen the Halloween Haunted Mansion or Space Mountain. Our last day is 09/16 but our plane doesn't leave until 6:00pm. If they are open we should have time for a quick run through before we have to head to LAX. But if not... Cest La Vie. A week at Disney is better than a week at home!

I wouldn't worry the 16th is the first day of the Halloween Season. The goal is to open it then.
