Ride questions

I have a few (ok... many) ride questions. I'm trying to work out what my dog and I can go on, and what sort of tweaking in his training (ie. getting him used to different vehicles, restraints, moving walkways) will be helpful. And he's scared of getting wet, which is why I ask about the water.

Does Buzz Lightyear spin on its own, or do you make it spin? What sort of restraints are there? Can you ride alone, or will they put someone else in your car?

Do you get wet on Aladdin's Carpets? I forget whether or not those camels spit.

Do you get wet on PoC?

Does SGE have lap bars as well as over the shoulder restraints?

Does Indy Speedway have seatbelts like a regular car? If so, would they allow me to use a proper dog car harness for the dog (it attaches to a regular seat belt)

If I can't ride ToT, can I still go into the hotel and see the pre-show?

For shows like Indiana Jones and Lights, Motor are there seats near the back that was easy access to the exits in case my dog can't handle it, or he smells smoke/fire and tries to make me leave?

Are there any rides in which there is the smell of smoke? I have no sense of smell, so my dog alerts and tries to pull me out of the room when there is smoke. I don't want him making a fuss.

I didn't bring him last trip, and sorely missed having him. I didn't think either of us were ready for a trip like that really. Now I think with some tweaking in his training (and hey... I'm almost half way through school to be a dog trainer, it's good practice!) we could do it, and have a great time. Not going on thrill rides will be a loss, but I plan on doing rides and seeing shows I've not done before, and taking a slower pace to look at everything.

sorry for the long post. :)

My brother has a service dog, and to my knowlege they are only permitted on rides without restraints. But we've only taken her to Disneyland . . . I know that does not answer your question but it might help you out!

1. You make Buzz spin, and you may ride alone, its like the haunted mansion where you choose your own ride vehicle

2. You can get wet on the carpets if you go up high, and the camels spit randomly.

3. You don't get wet on PoC, but you might get the slightest splash in the front

3. I can't decipher to SGE to save me life : -/

4. Indy Speedway does have seatbelts like a normal car, and to my knowledge they won't let you strap the dog in, but I could be completely wrong.

5. I would talk to the CMs at Tower, there is a chicken out elevator (I know it well) after the preshow

6. Since you have a service animal, I imagine they would be more than happy to accomdate you with a seat near the exit just in case there is a problem

7. You might smell smoke on Pirates (new enchanced scene at the beginning) and the funky smell on Spaceship Earth is smokelike.

What kind of puppy do you have?

Are you going with anyone else? If so, they can wait with him while you ride the attractions he can't, then you can swap over and they can ride, while you wait with him.

Have fun!

I will answer the questions I can:

Buzz Lightyear-you make it spin but you share the vehicle. You could request the wheelchair vehicle that has one seat and extra space for a wheelchair that could be used for your dog.

The camel's do spit.

PoC does have a drop but in my experience the splash isn't big enough to get wet. More of a mist.

For ToT I just saw the pre-show. There is a chicken elevator that goes to the gift shop.

Indiana Jones has seats in the back that are very easy to make a quick exit from. There are some explosions but unless it is windy, it should be okay. Light's Motor Action has a little trickier seating. I suggest taking the elevator to the middle level seats and using the special needs back row. Then the exit is just a short walk and down the elevator. There is smoke from explosions and squealing of tires but from those seats, it is pretty for away.

The shows and rides with smoke that I remember are the following:
It's Tough to Be a Bug (I am not sure if it's mist or smoke)
There's a fire dancer in Festival of the Lion King
There's some mist and a brief poof of smoke in The Tiki Room
Backlot Tour has a large, close range fire
The Great Movie Ride has a scene with smoke
Muppet Vision 3D has a small poof of smoke

Fantasmic, Illuminations, and Wishes all have smoke. Fantasmic only has a couple brief explosions. I would sit on the special needs back row and give it a go. You might manage Wishes if the wind is blowing away from you but that is a very difficult exit. I would definitely avoid Illuminations because the fireworks are in very close proximity and it is a difficult exit.

You will get wet in Voyage of the Little Mermaid (prolonged mist). Honey I Shrunk the Audience has a brief spit as does Muppet Vision

Best of luck!

I know in California they can advise against taking service animal on certain attractions bust must allow you to take them on all attractions now, except those with height limits, if they do have enough staff they will provide someone to watch your service animal while you ride an attraction where service animals are not recommended, I do believe that any rides with height limits may now be allow to refuse service animals, but I am not sure.

There is also the smell of smoke in Pirates of the Carribean and Spaceship Earth. There is alot of Fire in Lights Motor Action and some fire and water in the backstage Tour/Catastrophe Canyon.

As far as I'm aware, Disney doesn't allow CMs to take responsibility for service animals, but I may be wrong.

I don't have time to write much, but the Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities does say that they will not.

The ADA information about Serice Animals does say that the Service Animal is the responsibility of the person using it (kind of paraphrased) and that the person responsible for it needs to make arrangements for it if they are not able to. So, I don't think it's likely that WDW would have their staff do that.
They might if they have enough staff, but don't have to.

Thanks for your answers :)
Originally I was going alone. Then I brought it up to my moms and told them my plans. They got all sad because they want to go to Disney. :upsidedow
Now they are coming with me, and said any rides my dog can't handle, they will baby swap him with me.
